Exedy stage 2 clutch- CHATTER!

Have had my exedy stage 2 installed for about 12000 miles and from day 1 the chatter has been way more than what I would prefer. Also, I have a fear something could break or something is wrong because when I launch there is a strange sounding thud coming from the tranny. It almost sounds like the clutch let's go instantaneously or is the result of excessive chatter. I can illustrate the sound by laying a little rubber and you can see breaks in the rubber mark where this is happening.

Is anyone having similar behavior? I thought maybe it could also be the rear diff so I put in new bushings and a front motor mount but it didn't help the sound or my concern.

Thanks guys.

I'm not saying there isn't anything wrong with you clutch, but the breaks in your burnouts are more likely wheel hop then your clutch slipping. Typically, if a clutch starts to slip in a high load condition, it won't find grip till you're off the gas...

Yea that's the other side of it. It might be a suspension issue with wheel hop. I only have swift springs on stock struts. I just don't feel like its wheel hop tho.

Sorry for the brief hijack, but I'm looking to replace my clutch soon and the Stage 2 has been highly recommended but since it is (basically) a 3 puck, people have said that there is SOME chatter. Do you really notice it? Would you buy it again? How much HP are you putting through it?

Thanks!

I would not buy it again. I would probably go for an ACT 6 puck of full face (havent looked into them recently). I dont want to dicourage you from buying it b/c this might just be the way its acting with my particular car. I have about 350whp.

the exedys are know to have a lot of chatter and it deff sounds like your having wheel hop. also how are you launching the car? are you dropping the clutch? if your going to run a exedy i would run a triple and get it over with. it has the same feel, will last longer and if you want more power it will hold a butt ton more
