HUD says "CHECK" ??????

Hey all...relatively new to the site and Ive had my X GSR for about 6 months now. Its been the best car Ive ever owned! The problem that just started about a week ago is that when I take a "spirited" left hand turn the display in the dash says "CHECK" and it goes ding ding...ding ding. It doesnt throw a CEL and once I straighten out the wheel it all goes back to normal. What could be causing this??????? Something with the AWD system????? AYC system?????

Any help would be great...car has about 48k on the clock. I was going to change all my fluids (AYC, Diff, Tranny, coolant, ect) like the manual says to do after 30k but my shop got broken into and the bastards stole everything I own...including all my tools and the $130 box of all the Mitsu fluids and oils to do the job

Did the HUD show an exclamation mark? Did you check your brake fluid? Your brake pads may be wearing thin, so your brake fluid may be lower than usual.

I dont think it did...it just said CHECK inside of a circle...but it didnt tell me what to CHECK. Ill check the fluid and see if its a little low but new pads were put on about 10k ago.

Do you actually see a CEL? Or is it the "BRAKE" light coming on for a second and then turning off?

If its the brake light, then just add a little brake fluid. There is a sensor and if the brake fluid "sloshes" around too much when it is kinda low it trips the brake fluid warning light..

Minor point: displays on a dash are not HUDs.

No there is no CEL and now that you mention it the brake light might come on also. Im about to leave work to go get lunch...Ill try to simulate it again and see if it comes on.

OK went to luch and I couldnt simulate the event. I did check my brake fluid level and all I can see is about 1/4 inch of fluid in the bottom after I pull out the screen. I will get fluid when I get home and hopefully it fixes the problem. Thanks for the replies!!!

It's just a dash display. A HUD - i.e., a heads-up display - would appear on the windscreen, such that you don't have to move your gaze to see it.

When's the last time you changed your brake pads? There's a reason your brake fluid levels are low and needed to be refilled. You fixed the issue of having the message come up, but you didn't really "fix" the real issue here.

sounds like you're low on your brake fluid. that happened to me when my pads were pretty much gone. every time i would take a hard turn or go WOT on 1 or 2nd gear, i got that same message. after i changed my pads, never happened again.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Rear pads are shot...going to change them tomm...consider the "real issue" "fixed" then. I didnt know there was a warning light for brake fluid.

Oh...and to pre-empt your next comment...yes I know Ill have to remove some of the brake fluid when I change the pads or Ill have it everywhere.
