"Check Tarmac" on the HUD

So in the last week or so, when I get on the car, I've started getting this. It appears to happen most after turns, but I've had it happen in a straight line (after a turn of course) as well.

It happens after a left hand turn and a right hand turn with ASC half off or ASC fully off. It shows up in red, dings, blinks and then disappears.

I checked the service manual and couldn't find anything in there about this. I've not pulled the codes (no SES light), but it's possible that there's a DTC pending.

My brake fluid is a touch low (flushing today) and my AYC fluid is at the low line. I *think* that it might be the brake system being low.

The car still handles like normal, doesn't cut power, etc.

Tuned with access port (~1 month ago)
New clutch (~1.5 months ago) We didn't pull the ACD line, so we didn't bleed the system.

How is the grip on your tires? It could be that your tires are chattering just slightly enough for the system to think that the conditions are a little more slippery than the AWC mode you have selected.

Either that or its sayin that you drive like a maniac and you should make sure the tarmac isnt crying!

My tires "only" have 6-7000 miles on them. They need replaced in the next 2000 miles or so depending on how hard I push them. The stock tires lasted 5500 miles FWIW.

Ohh, its in the OM alright i'd go get mine and refer you to the page but whoa, i'm hella lazy right now, basically says its some sort of failsafe for something, and if it does come on turn your car off and turn on again and if its still on then you got problem(if not OM says u a ok) mine does the same thing, but only when i'm parked and rev the engine passed 5300rpm??? cant remember exactly what the OM said but as long as it turns off after the next engine restart your all good man

I found this post: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/5869435-post11.html

I never get a 2nd screen telling me what to check. I bet it's sloshing brake fluid. We'll see if the flush clears it.

My OM is in the garage. It's way too big to have flopping around in my squeaky glove box all the time.

^^^ Thats exactly what happened to me too. If you take a corner hard enough with low brake fluid it dips below the sensor for a split second (just like if you are running at the track with low gas) and "bings" at you.

Wow, all these random guesses and no one has even bothered to look in the owner's manual, sheesh. It's clearly in there, but I'll go ahead and clear this up right now. I've gotten this EXACT same light several times, and it only happens after this one uphill turn that kinda rocks the car a little bit. I looked in the owner's manual, and it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. That symbol that pops up and says (!) CHECK is the symbol for the brake fluid level. The reason that it pops up is because on certain turns and hills that slosh the tank around, the low level indicator might trip for a second.

The TARMAC portion of the warning light is not actually associated with the warning light, it's only displaying what ACD mode you are currently in when the (!) CHECK light comes up. If you are in gravel, it will say GRAVEL instead of tarmac. Again, it's nothing to worry about, and totally normal. Keep an eye out though, because when the light starts coming on more frequently, it means that you are low on fluid (since less fluid will only need to slosh a little bit to trip the low level indicator). There, problem solved, peace of mind given, everyone's happy. BTW goofy, PM me to get my address so you can send me my "thank you" 12 pack of corona.

Tire pressure was fine. Brake fluid was a bit low. But we flushed the fluid and the Motul 600 was pretty brown after 6 months or so. All day today no "bings" so I think that was the issue.

Thanks guys!
