Exhaust Decision: Tomei or Ti-C or...

I defenitely want a single exhaust, and sound is not much of a factor. However, fitment and durability is what I'm really looking for. Having owned a Ti exhaust before, I'm a little apprehensive on getting another. I've always had good luck with Greddy in the past. The exhaust will be run with a high flow cat at some point in the near future, but for right now, I'll have to use the stock cat. Do either of these exhausts bolt up to the stock cat with it's existing heat shield in place? I DO NOT want to cut, bend, notch, hammer, or remove ANY part of the stock cat or its heat shield, PERIOD. I know these exhausts taper, or neck-down, at the cat joint. But, if these have proven not to fit unless the heat shield is modified, let me know. Are there any exhausts that would bolt up with no cutting, etc...? Additinally, since the back side of the cat flange is covered by the heat shield, how the hell do you reach the bolts on the back of the flange, or is the cat flange itself threaded (that would be awfully sketchy if it was...)?

Thanks!

Don't buy Tomei TI-c. I had to cut and remove some heatshields, and random things to get it to stop rattling everywhere

Try also looking at Invidia, or Ultimate Racing as possible established alternatives for a single tip setup.

For something a bit less known out there but pretty cheap and with good reviews look into ARK Design.

I know that the Invidia and Ultimate Racing will not fit unless the cat heat shield is modified or removed. I can find very little about ARK.

I am really glad I went with the Tomei exhaust. It's the reason my windows are always down when I'm cruising. Didn't have to do any cutting or welding of the heatshield. Things in the car will begin to rattle a little bit, but what do you expect from a car with a cheap interior? Fitment and welding are perfect, Tomei quality is top notch. HOWEVER, you have to be mindful of the "correct side". Based on the way the exhaust is bolted on, it won't fit. I ran into that issue when I was installing it. I simply had to flip it, and perfect fitment. I'm currently running mine to an Akuma testpipe, but I'm gonna guess that the stock cat would work just fine.

On second thought, don't get one so I can feel more unique!

I feel pretty confident that the Tomei will fit fine underneath the car, it's the cat junction I'm worried about. If it doesn't fit with the stock cat heatshield (or that heatshield has to be mangled to make it fit), I'm not interested.

Now that I didn't know about.

Perhaps the ARK may work without mods I'm also all for retaining heatshields when possible. Bad experiences in the past tell me to do that as much as possible.
