What to get after stock clutch goes out?
Would stage 2 be able to handle all that? Yeah people have told me the stage 4 are pretty hard and nothing compared to stock but I do want something that will be good for DD what do you recommend? I plan on getting one the end of this month.
The Stage 2 should have no problem holding ~500whp. There's a huge difference in the requirements of a clutch between a DD and a drag car. Don't fool yourself into looking you have one rather than the other (this is a common mistake made by many).
Yeah I would wanna go with the stage 2 comp clutch forsure then if it'll be better for DD
ACT HDSS. I have put 80k on one before my motor blew. only reason i replaced it was because i didnt want to do a clutch and have the tranny off again in another 20k, so i saved the time and trouble and just threw in a new one with my rebuild. been a DD for me, and is rated to hold your goals
I don't plan on going beyond a tune and the and this clutch is ideal. It feels like stock yet holds much much better.I would be a bit more aggressive with it but again the cmc is always on my mind.
I love this car but one of the reasons I got it was for the toughness of Evos, but I could have just stuck with my WRXs for all this type of stuff.
And how many Evo owners do you know who want an STI? What about the other way around? ... Exactly
I will tell you this. I have been driving and tuning cars since the 90's (Damn i sound old now). I have had my share of manual gear box vehicles. Purchased a 2011 GSR new off the show room floor with 20 miles on the Odometer. I installed an intake along with a tune shortly after purchase, maybe pushing 300wtq 300whp... clutch went out at 2200 miles. Let me tell you that the couple times i tried launching the car it never really held. Now did the 20 miles that the car came with come from some hard testing driving on the dealership end or did i get bad luck with a faulty clutch.. actually in the process of changing the clutch now. There might be other cases out there where clutches were faulty.....
Just my two cents but when I upgraded my trans I went all out hoping that it would last the life of the car. So I went exedy twin plate and it sucked. It was a nightmare to drive. So like others have stated only get what your car absolutely needs to hold and be dependable.
Spec clutches used to be known for pulling themselves apart... Idk if they fixed that. And quartermaster twins are insanely noisy after breakin... Other then that... Chose to suit your power level
