Changing valve springs with out removing head

So here soon i plan on doing a set of cams in my X im going with AMS TMP cams which require valve springs
So me being lazy i was gonna attempt to change the valve springs with out taking the head off.
Is it a good idea?
Anyone here ever done it this way?
Any recommendation if i do it this way?
Thanks in Advance guys!

I was going to try this on my car but ended up not doing it and yanking the head. Once you get the new cams in plan on ALL of the cam clearances to off and ordering lots of new buckets, thn fiddling around with them for weeks trying to get the clearances right. This is what I did durin my engine build and it was a huge PITA.

Just yank the head, bring it, the springs, the cams, and your buckets (still assembled and in order!) to a machine shop and have them deal with it. I had a valve job done and fresh valves put in last week (see build thread) and try literally had it done in hours, not days!

Then
Re-assemble with a good quality set of headstuds and a fresh OEM gasket and you're set.

ok.... they make a TOOL for this... and you actually need a bunch of tools... a compression checking tool ( used to fill the cylinder with air so you dont drop a valve.. and the spring compressor tool.. mine was done this way... yours can be also... I didnt have to change my buckets and/or shims.. and i put in 274's

I would take the head off. But if you want to do it the lazy way. Do what i did (i had my head off and engine apart but you can still do it this way) All you need is like a 22mm socket, socket extentiion, rubber mallet and one of those magnatic pole things. Place the socket with the extension on the valve spring retainer. Give it a good hit the the rubber mallet. The spring will compress and the retaining clips will come off. They will most likely fall into the head which is why you need that magnetic pole.

As for getting the springs on, iiunno because i havent gotten that far..lol

By the way I, in no way, am responsible if you try this ****ed up method and screw your car up.
