Another Bad AWC PUMP :(

Well chalk up another bad awc pump. A month ago it got warm outside and I got the dreaded awc service required icon. Came on some days, other days it wouldn't. Weather got cold again and the light did not come on for over a month. Had another warm day today and light came on again. Seems if the temp is under 50 degrees the light does not come on. If its warmer then that it comes on, I am guessing the heat expands the pump?? After doing some research I am positive its the awc pump. I have an 08 with 40K miles, so I'm sure the dealer will tell me to bend over! $2 grand to replace it??? WTF!!! You think is going to do anything about this? Seems like a huge problem with a ton of Evo's.

take it in first and let them check it out, hell they might even warranty it.
If not you can have it rebuilt or buy a used one
GOOD LUCK!

I can tell you from experience it will NOT be warrantied under the 5yr/60k mile warranty. OP please read the following 2 threads, and then go and submit a complaint.

Again, for ANYONE who has had an ACD pump failure, and was refused warranty work. Please file a complaint on the NHSTA page.

Did you have some sort of extended warranty? Also, WHEN did you have yours replaced. Mitsubishi may have changed the warranty due to so many going out.

Well you can buy the ACD rebuild kit from ACD-Tuning, I believe it is something like 500-600 for the full kit, but I may be mistaken. Then you have to either rebuild it yourself or pay labor to get it done.

There are some peeps who drive their Evo/RalliArt's with bad pumps for well over a year/thousands of miles.
