Porting vs Bigger turbo

So I have been reviewing porting TB/Intake/Exhaust vs Bigger turbo kit.
You can spend 1200 on porting MILSpec TB, REV3 intake and ported Exhaust Mani to get 20hp or sell my fpred and spend the 1200 on a bigger turbo kit and get way more power.

I do not see the benefit of porting the factory parts.

Someone enlighten me.

It's not apples to apples.....

To some, it's worth being able to gain that 20hp without giving up the response of the stock turbo.

Porting lets you take a slightly faster spooling setup farther before losing spool on the bigger turbos.

If you just want raw power, sure porting might seem worthless to you. But it's not that simple considering all the other variables that change with the turbo.

i treat port work on newer cars like an additional step you might as well do when buying new parts/building up motor and the part is being removed anyway.

i would never remove my stock manifold for the sole purpose of porting but if the manifold is coming off, i may be tempted to buy a ported and ceramic coated manifold.

Where did you get that info from? Your gonna gain more then 20 hp by upping to a fully smooth rev3 and the milspec 65mm tb. Then on top of that your exhaust mani. It sounds to me if all that is gonna gain you 20 more hp then you need a better tuner. Link just so you know does not work, but I will tell you your gonna gain more power then that. With the addition of cams to that mix and proper fueling would supprise me to be making mid 500s with the fp red. I can tell you from my own experience on MAP's old turbo I made 365 whp on that setup and with those exact same parts made over 400 on my bases tune and my first run with low conservative timing before I blew up the turbo being I didn't realize it wasn't tight. That is with HKS cams and those suck. It all comes down to tuning when you start adding parts man.

Right now I have FPred with Stage 2 cams.
I picked up bigger 1300DW injectors to run E85.

I figure while I am in there might as well pulled a few things off and get everything ported, wanted to make sure I was making smart decision with my money. I wanted quick spool and fun for the street and Scca events.

I was going to send Turbo to FP to be ported. And send intake, exhaust, tb to map have them ported. Just want to make sure I have the ship pointed in the right direction

It's a step that can be taken to keep your car within a certain race class where upgrading the turbo might move you up to a new class.

I already have an upgraded turbo.

I did see Map Rev3 intake dyno they stated it made 49 more hp.

Correct, now add a map ported exhaust manifold, nice size intake, proper fuel, and a tb and how is that gonna look? I see massive gains not 25 hp

One thing that no has mention is that you better get a good machinist. Many people get turbos and mani's ported but the machinist doesn't do a smooth job. Make sure you go to a reputable shop. The type of port can affect your performance. A good port will give you quicker spool though where as a bigger turbo can slow down your spool. I don't think porting is always necessary. Just my opinion. Good luck man!

I was going to do the following.

FP will port the turbo
intake mani ported by MAP
TB ported by MAP
Exhaust up to Buscher

As I am staying factory FP red this should result in a pretty stupid quick spool and on E85 I should be able to hit 500hp.

I think

Stock framed turbos are ok. But For the money you will spend on bastard stock framed turbo, I'd get a whole T3/T4 based kit (i.e. ETS, MAP, AMS)

I agree - I already have the FPred
so I could sell it for 1300 with my down pipe
and then spend another 1700

but it all starts to add up
I want to also have power down low and bigger turbos dont seem to do that
and I at what point will I be needing to upgrade the fuel system

But then the T3 T4 kits tend to make the car a dog in the lower rev range..... Similar peaks in power but the torque is missing. Right when the T3 T4 wants to keep revving, you hit redline on a stock motor.

I don't see the point of T3T4 kits with smaller turbos myself. Unless going 500hp+ I see no reason why a stock frame won't suffice. And by then you'd just go 6266 or something huge anyways since it's already lag city.

Unless it's a stroker, I've never really been impressed with the torque curve of those setups.

Thats what I was thinking.
I wouldnt mind having the same tq/hp curves of a FPred but say 200 tq/hp more. But I do not know If I have the funds to support that. And dont know what to buy to make it
