Competition Clutch Stage 3 Issues
So i'm trying to get my motor up and running and had the competition clutch stage 3 part # - 5153-2600 installed while the motor was torn down along with a MAP CMC upgrade. I just got a call from the shop saying the lock retaining clip, pictured below, snapped in 2...The trans was removed twice to fix and it keeps doing this. Is this a pressure plate related issue or a faulty retaining clip? We have a new Exedy retaining clip being overnighted tomorrow, just not sure if that will be our solution.
The clips just suck, pick up the ACT Monoloc here, http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co...ti_884006p.htm

is the exedy the same quality as the clip that comes with the comp clutch? I never had this issue on my clutchmasters FX300 clutch

the comp clip is garage. exedy makes the oem clip and is high quality, but get the act monoloc because its the best option.

My tuner is scheduled to fly in tomorrow evening at 7pm. The reason we rush ordered the exedy clip is so we can get my car up and running and have it tuned by him when he is in town. I could order the monoloc, but that would mean re-scheduling the entire tune/flight/hotel/dyno and etc. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Do you think the comp clip getting snapped caused any damage to the pressure plate? If the exedy clip shows up tomorrow morning then we can definitely go that route and have the clutch back in the car, but that comes at a risk. If the Exedy clip doesn't work then i'm out labor $$$ for having the transmission dropped again and re-installed. Any suggestions Mrfred?
If they are having issues with the clip, they are most likely hitting it on the input shaft while trying to get the trans in and bending it. Then it won't grab the throwout bearing. I find it is much easier if you drop the subframe. It give you a lot more room to get the trans out and in.
