competition stage 3 or spec stage3+?
competition stage 3 or spec stage3+?
Well, my clutch decided it was time to crap out. It's slipping in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. It jumps up about 300-400 rpm's before it catches. I've been doing a lot of research and I was leaning towards the spec stage 3+ but I also found good reviews on the competition clutch stage 3. Either clutch will suit my needs and I want a full face pressure plate. That's why I've narrowed it down to these two. I'm fully bolted running cobb stage 2+sf tune. I switched to cobb stage 2 a month ago when I finished my exhaust mods and that's when my clutch started slipping. Future plans are mhi 18K, dw65c, 1000cc injectors, and kelford 214b's. Shooting for 400/370 or so. So I'm not going too crazy, I know either clutch will handle it fine. I was leaning towards spec stage 3+ because people said it was fine on stock cmc. I just had the cmc recall done like a month ago, so I have the stronger revised cmc. Don't want to upgrade it at this point. Is the competition clutch stage 3 as easy on the cmc as the spec stage 3+? Or do you really need the magnus or ams kit to run the comp clutch? If I need to upgrade cmc to run comp clutch I guess it's spec 3+ for me. Anyone with either one of these clutches, please chime in...
thanks
thanks
I have the comp stage 3 with the comp steel flywheel and I like the setup. The pedal is really not much heavier than stock. I do have the ams upgraded Cmc. I doesn't really matter what type of upgraded clutch you do you Need to upgrade the Cmc the stock plastic Cmc can't handle the the extra pressure it will break and leave u stranded . Most performance shop will no put an upgraded clutch without the Cmc upgrade also . Good luck with your upgrade with whatever u choose!
I have the comp Stg 3, about 8k on it now and I love it. I am still running it on stock CMC but will have the recall done soon. All in all it's a great DD clutch that you know can handle bigger power. I kept the stock flywheel in place and haven't had any issues. I haven't launched the car yet but drive it aggressively and it makes for crisp clean shifts. It gets my reccomendation!

awesome! it's good to hear that someone is running this clutch on stock cmc without an issue! I have the recall done so I think my car should be fine with this clutch.
This just answered a question I came on to find out. I was going to post asking about the comp and the spec as well. I think I am going with the comp stage 3 on my stock cmc, once my new clutch is in I will get the recall done. I am going to put in a new flywheel also. Hope to have it done by next week, I am going to order today!

I should also mention that I had the PILL removed at the same time I did the clutch. It greatly improved the feel of the clutch and engagement of the clutch. I would DEFINITELY do the pill when you do the clutch or CMC.

The problem with removing the pill and upgrading the clutch is it lets you dump the clutch, which in turn will break something else. I have a customer in the shop right now that is on his third rear differential because he likes to launch the car. Just something to keep in mind.
Your customer needs to learn how to slip his clutch a bit, just dumping your clutch while the engine bounces off of the launch control is just plain stupid, customer needs a lesson on physics!!! Should also learn some self control and try not to launch his car so much, save it for the track!
