Building up to a bigger turbo

So I got a quite a bit of money that I want to put into my 2014 evo x. My goal is to be around 400-450whp before I'm done working on my evo. I know this is a noob question but I was just wondering what kind of modifications I should do to my stock engine before I try to put a bigger turbo in there. The last thing I want is to blow up my engine. I'm thinking I should upgrade my cams, pistons, new intercooler w/ piping, full exhaust system, intake, fuel pump, fuel injectors, and oil lines. What am I missing here? I'm thinking about putting in a gt3582r turbo. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend the following parts.

3.5" or 4.0" Intercooler Kit depending on the turbocharger setup.

Test pipe

One of our 4 cat backs depending your preference.

If you plan on going with a 35R setup. We have a full setup with downpipe, manifold, wastegates, etc. If you plan on going with a bolt on turbocharger, which I don't recommend. We can also supply you with a downpipe.

Depending on your fuel.. you will need some injectors. I really like the ID2000.

we can also source you a double pump for the fuel pump if you plan on going E85 or if pump gas.. we can get you a single drop in fuel pump.

Tuning I would recommend the Cobb AP

If you have any other questions feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks!

Bolt-ons and a good tune are really key but take it from advice, too much spool or low end torque can easily destroy this engine. In my experience, going to a bigger, slower spooling turbo is actually safer and keeping the boost down.

The last build on my personal car was a MEGA quick-spooling setup purely made for the fastest 0-120mph possible and required a fully build engine/head.

If you need any advice, shoot me an email: jason@dsgperformance.com

/\ we work very closely with ETS too and they make great bolt-ons/turbo kits, definitely a good path to take

Cheers!

Basic bolt ons from any of the reputable vendors on here: Intake, intercooler, exhaust, cams, etc.

A 3582 will be pretty laggy on a stock displacement motor. I ran one for a while and was getting 26 psi by 4800-4900 rpm. With a stock motor you will be limited to around 350 wheel torque or you risk throwing a rod, so you won't be able to use anywhere near the full potential of that turbo. Biggest I'd go is a 3576 but a 3071 will make that power and spool ultra quick. If you want a direct bolt on go with ATP. However they are more restrictive with the ATP housing than a comparable turbo and kit from one of the vendors like ETS.

For the Fuel system you will need a drop in pump in the 255-265 lph range on pump gas. E85 will take more pump like Michael said. ID injectors are the best in the business. Although pricey, they are well worth it. ID2000s will have plenty of fuel for an E85 setup. You can go smaller if you don't plan to go that route.
