Fuel Cut or something else in 5th Gear WOT

I was at an HPDE event yesterday and experienced hesitation/chugging/back firing or whatever it was near the end of the day when my fuel tank was less than a 1/4 full on the straight once I shifted to 5th gear WOT.

I've searched around the forums and I can't seem to get a straight answer whether its fuel cut or overboost? (due to OTS Cobb Stage 1 map?)

Currently flashed to OTS Cobb Stage 1, catback exhaust and high flow drop-in air filter.

Advice and comments appreciated.

Thanks

Did you get any Service engine soon lights? Also it could be your fuel pump relay dying. Also do you mean you only had 1/4 tank left or 1/4 from the tank being full?

Does the air filter get oiled or is it paper?

No CEL came up and the gas tank had 1/4 or less. Air filter is non-oiled.

Prolly just low on fuel the evo is notorious for that try to always keep it above half! Its more noticiable especially on longer left hand turns.

whenever i go HPDE I get fuel cut a few sessions in. for me its the tune that its causing my issue. Got it retuned and new tuner said its because track conditions cause the car to overboost and more chance of knock so ur tune will cut power. so u can try running a lower boost map at the track.

hoobastnk90 - Exactly that, my fuel cut happened after a long left corner that led to the straight. I can almost hear the fuel sloshing around behind me, or is it?

Would an upgrade to a better fuel pump, or fuel rail make any difference?

No those wont help, you would need a surge tank and there kind of pricey. Its easier to just make sure you keep more fuel in the car! But if you must i think MAP makes one here is the link http://www.maperformance.com/map-sur...shi-evo-x.html

I had the same problem. It's the relay. Change it. My car is a 2014 and it already went bad.
