So I have been having this problem for quite a white now. I have random knock while accelerating on the highway (3rd/4th/5th) at any rpm and when I do pulls in 3rd it usually is at 6k rpm or so. Now I had my tuner check it out, he can not pin point the issue.
My car is a 2008 gsr with the new timing chain, I changed the oil valve (exhaust). I have full bolt ons with Id1k, Aeromotive 320, gtx3576 on stock block (so far). My clutch is an ACT HD-SS and a Streetlite flywheel. I run a Synapse DV with push config.
Knock seems to be random, usually while driving then accelerating, or 3rd gear pulls. 2nd gear has no knock. I attached a log here for reference, any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!
I am having it tuned by someone very experienced with Evo's, but wont name them. I have no way of determining if it's actual knock or not, no one around here has det cans or good evo x knowledge
from previous conversations it seems to be phantom, but he doesn't want to tune me because of possible issues and engine blowing......so I need to find a way to get rid of it. He also doesn't want to desensitize it
When I was hunting for real knock, the tuner had a drum of some crazy high octane (non lead) fuel. We dumped it in and the knock was gone. This was over a decade ago (Eclipse). That meant it was real. I could have pulled some timing across the board and checked if that made a difference. I am also confused why your "pro" tuner didn't try these things (or did he?)... she?... You can drop your load targets (boost) as well and see if it remains. Now I looked at your log, and I would try to address each "section". For instance focus on off/low boost (under 140 load) and see if you can get rid of it there. Once the ECU gets knock on the brain, it lets go SLOWLY !
Here is my under 140 load timing tables. Use at your own risk, but I do see that your running even higher timing when the knock starts. My fuel is 93 octane, no mivec changes. Try playing around with these values if you like:

sorry but this makes no sense, very experience and cant figure out if its phantom knock or not.. He can just pull a few degrees of timing and see if it goes away for a start, that will not blow your motor.. goodluck
Thanks for the info guys, like I said, it's an e-tune. I'm in canada and he's in the USA. I will talk to him and ask to pull some timing. I will also try the high octane...hope it helps :/
