So I suspect my 2013 Evo X has a bad head gasket at 70k miles.
Reasons supporting this idea:
-I have the MAP catch can/coolant tank and it leaks antifreeze everywhere out of the vented cap (has anyone else had this issue?)
-I can cold start the car, let idle for 30 seconds, pull the radiator cap off, and antifreeze blows everywhere.
-When I bought the car 4 years ago the guy put a 3-port on it without a tune and it was over-boosting.
Reasons against this idea:
-Excellent compression test, read very close to 150 PSI on all 4 cylinders.
-Car doesnt blow any white smoke, exhaust doesnt smell like antifreeze.
-Did a coolant pressure test, and was able to hold good pressure (around 15 psi).
Somebody please give me their thoughts, I was about to go for a tune but I want to fix any issues before going obviously.
As you can see on top of the catch can there is a lot of crystallized antifreeze.
Theres no visual sign of coolant being in the oil, it looks normal. However, Blackstone did an analysis a while back on my oil and they found very small traces of sodium, which they believed could either be coolant or some left over additive from a previous oil.
The MAP catch can/coolant tank has crank case and coolant next to each other. Sound like coolant is leaking into the catch can side of the tank.
Oh yes I understand that. However there is no sign of antifreeze in the catch can side, and I've taken the lid off multiple times and cant see any sign of one side leaking to the other. Also the catch can side is vented directly to atmosphere, so there's no pressure there.
