If I Designed the Evo X....

it would not only have 500 hp and run 11's stock but it would also cure cancer and solve global warming too.

I wouldnt sell it in the U.S.

U.S. Buyers are full of complaints and suggestions, and most won't ever even enter a dealer to buy the car. This board is full of whiney people, I can't imagine working at Mitsu trying to figure out what the U.S. market actually wants...
Exactly. If they never sold it here we wouldnt have to listen to every other new thread being... "The new X is ugly" or "What do you think of the X".

I am sick of the X already haha, it just needs to come out already to put everything else to rest.

Yep. IIRC, the VI made about 276 hp and weighed close to 2800 lbs. I would have took the basic boxy / rally/ agressive design and modernized it. The vehicle would still have huge fendors and a gigantic wing. As for the interior, of course all mandatory SRS systems would be installed along with a modernized hvac system. Newer recaro seats (all red imo) as well. The motor would be the same as in the X. The new HP level should more than compensate for the added weight of the SRS, and updated interior (figure an additional 200 lbs). I would also add all the new Tranny features (ACD, LSD, etc).

Basically, all of the new motor / tranny features in a slightly modernized VI. That would equal a fast, nimble, race inspired, aggresive, vehicle that the Evo used to be... Just my 2c...

I doubt 350 hp would be a resonable expectation, but I understand the OP's point. Since the end of the VI, performance has taken a back seat to comfort. One could argue the need to sell cars all day long. There is no perfect solution. I just know what I would want.

Good post by the way...

If I were designing the new Evo X and knew that the company was not involved in WRC anymore, then why limit the engine to a 2.0 liter engine? I'd make it light and basically go as bare bones inside like a Lotus. I'd put a powerful FI 6 cylinder engine. I mean look at M3's they started out as I4's then I6's for two version's now they are V8's

Is it so hard for individuals without constructive feedback to stay out of the forums? If you dont like it, move on. It is a public forum so you can post what you wish, but lord.... Im tired having to sift through the rubish

That's hard to do reliably from a 2.0L 4 banger that people will daily drive.

I personally don't think the new Evo X (from what i've read) is much of an evolution in performance as it is in refinement......and from the beginning, the car has been all about performance.
It's still about performance, it's just gained weight so it lost a little acceleration. Quit your whining and start moding. That's what we do here, right?

but for everyone else.........

If you had a say in the "Evolution" of the car we all love, what would have been some of the important things you would have made sure of in this car assuming you had the opportunity to give your input.....?
-I would have made it look more like the concept

-Weigh less

-Offered a MT in the MR

-20 more HP

-better interior plastics

-larger displacement engine

Group N, that's why.

Regardless, I'd like a big four at minimum.

Bad idea.

The problem is that the VI's styling doesn't appeal to large audiences. The X does. Mitsu needs to push product for a change.

Todays vehicles all weigh more due to better crash designs. They have to use reinforced steel in certain areas to allow the impact to transfer to the main body to absorb the shock of an impact. This adds weight, but also makes the body more rigid and usually better handling as well. Some other weight does come from better thicker plusher materials inside as well.

You could take a EVO 6 and crash it against a lesser weight 2008 corolla. The corolla would win hands down as far as cabin intrusion.

If you designed the new EVO X like the older EVO 6, it would get horrific crash test scores compared to todays vehicles and standards.

I hope this thread gets closed cause it's bothering me.

Being that it is here, and we generally know how it's styled and performs, I started this thread to get some objective ideas on what people would have liked to have seen in the evo X......that is not already on the car...........

The answer "The X is perfect exactly how it stands" would have been taken as a suggestion without question.......

There were a lot of threads "If you could change one thing on your evo 8/9, what would it be" and people didn't jump all over the OP bashing the thread left and right.

I was just looking for some subjective and constructive ideas on what you guys would have liked to have seen in the X....being mild or major changes.

and like little girls.......75% (the majority) jumped on here b_tching and complaining about the thread itself........bringing nothing positive to the table.

This thread wasn't titled "What sucks about the X"..........like all the rest......and it's not a jealousy thing. It was just to bring up some ideas from the community.

God Damn........at this point it's hard to even keep participating on this forum at all. I have been a member since the beginning and when the car first came the US and i got my 03, i was estatic about being here........and now.......4 years later and with the addition of hundreds of know it all's each with something prickly shoved up their a$$es, i have to say..........honestly.......most of you guys just plain suck.

Take your heads our of your A$$es. come back down to reality. because you're negative "I'm too good for your thread" attitude sucks.

You guys give evo owners a bad name..........hell, i've met nicer crowds coming as an outsider to BMW, MB, Vette, and even Mustang forums.........and thats sad.....cause one would think it would be the other way around.

and one more thing. I LIKE THE EVO X. It will probably be my next DD when i turn in my 4runner.

I'm done b_tching now. Have a great rest of your day.
