If I designed the Evo X.........
He said what he felt and i said what i felt about his thread.
I don't really mind the looks or even the weight (250-300+ lbs?) for the new model. I never bought my TB IX for looks. The only thing I'm going to miss with the X is the bulletproof 4G63.
So, how long do you think it'll take before we have some solid performance parts and tuning out of this new engine?

the new evo x was designed to be a daily driver more than the 8 and 9 were imo , the whole shifting deal is state of the art and the car is state of the art like it or not car companies dont and never will go backwards as far as technology is concerned if you think the x is bad give it ten years then re-read this post and see how cars are doing then period
o and not to shock anyone but the future for cars is going be somewhat along the lines of hybrid ,hydrogen cell, e-85 cars and others of that nature so people will stop f(&%^%$ up this planet

Mitsu is far better off going for a little more mature crowd with the new Evo. I'd never buy the old Evo, but would consider a much better overall car like the upcoming X.
All these 14-21 yr old kids crying the new Evo X doesn't do 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.
Mitsu will be fine without them.

Going on and on about what Mitsubishi should have done with the Evo is like trying to analyze what could have done to save a life.
There is nothing you can do about either, except make the best of it and carry on!!
Really, I am concerned about two areas....the 4b11 and the SST tranny. One can be eliminated with the 5 speed option, and thats just fine.
The reason I am concerned is that so many people will be looking to follow the modification path of the Evo 8-9 that we're gonna see many a blown up car,
UNLESS! The 4b11 turns out to be as dynamite as the 4G63 was.
The SST looks like a great idea, but if history shows anything, they are built around a specific HP and TQ number...again that'd be great if they took into account what was going to happen when people tried to follow the path of the previous Evos.
Mitsu isn't stupid. Just bound by the rules of automaking....its better for them to appeal to a wide range of people than to cater to a niche crowd.
I spoke to a vendor...whom I regard as a friend, and his comment was
"The Evo market/aftermarket just isn't what it used to be. Lots of former Civic/SRT4 owners....lots of wasted money, and people bringing a bad rap to the name of the car and the SCC world"
Being as I have witnessed just such a first hand case several a time (not calling converts bad people, but your average 17-18 year old punk is more common behind the wheel of an evo these days) Mitsu would be damn right if they wanted to pull away from that crowd of street racing, car wrecking kids.
