The only folks that are saying that isn’t a better car are the folks who own the previous generation cars and never have driven the EVO10. I’d say give it a chance.

Oh I have no doubts the X handles much better than the IX or VIII, but to me they went with a motor that's has no history behind it and it doesn't live up to the functional look like the IX and previous Evos.

How can you have your doubts? The stopwatch doesn't lie. Like I said before give it a chance. The motor has no history because it’s a new motor. The engine in the fist gen DSM cars didn't have a history when it was first released and it ended up being great.

Looks are subjective. The last gen car couldn't shake its economy car roots (which actually added to the appeal). But the large windows look out of proportion with the rest of the car and the design is starting to look old. Not to mention that the last gen EVO’s interior was super cheap looking. The last gen EVO’s interior wouldn’t look out of place in a car that cost $15,000. I like the EVO X more than I do the last generation car. Sorry.

I'm with you. I'll still be at the dealership first chance I get to test drive the new X

Correct me if I am wrong, but I heard that the turbo will be on the rear side of the engine instead of the front. If this is true then this is the real killjoy for me.

the previous concept models of the X were awesome(humungous fender flares) but the real model looks like complete CRAP imo. From the side, it looks like a shark with its nose cut off and the rear end is just completely ugly from the taillights to the tacky rear bumper.

I feel that it will still be a good car. But I will test drive one to give an honest opinion. To be honest I like the body style. If you could put in a 4G63 I believe that half of the people would consider buying the X.

I may not drive an Evo but I'm a fan. As a Suby owner I can say that the current WRX owners feel your pain. Subaru did the same thing with their '08 models but I think the X is much better looking then the '08 STi (by far).

Why are they doing this to us? I say we go on strike and produce our own car ..... oh wait, I already did in another thread

I'm pretty sure that it is true that the turbo will be in the back of the engine

I don't like the evo X, simply for the fact that it makes my car not 'new' anymore

I went to see the Evo X in person (only the 5MT GSR, they haven't brought the SST or the RS in yet). On two occasions. I'm not impressed.

The engine bay is cramped. The engine cover is obviously plasticky and cheap. The turbo is behind the engine block, making access difficult. The battery is in the boot (trunk to the Americans), the bay is that small and filled with junk. The hoses are cheapo and almost certainly need to be replaced with silicone - even the dealer said so.

The most disquieting thing is the overall impression of the engine bay : it reminds me uncannily of my old Kia. The new Mitsubishi engine bay looks for all the world like a cheap Korean car engine bay. We have an Evo VII (dad's) and an 05 WRX (mine) at home, *both* of them have much better laid out and classy looking engine compartments (especially the Evo VII). Mitsu has definitely taken a big step down with this one.

The rest is the same old. Rear seat room is cramped (but I'm more than 6 feet tall and pretty fat). Difficult to compare with our VII because that's a GT-A with luxury seats (which are less cramped by design).

Overall, I have very mixed feelings about the X, I was enthusiastic pre-release, when the rumors were flying about 330 hp, etc. Now that reality has set in, it doesn't look anything like what I expected. I have a hard time pulling the trigger on this purchase.
