Evo X Official Weight
Well, looks like we've got release date, weight and power nailed down. Just need options & PRICING!!! And when the MR will actually come here and if they've got the "issues" worked out yet...
Oh, and look at the very bottom of the chart that jackygor posted...in the small type...this information has been available since 8/20/07! Those bastards at
have been holding out on us for 3 months

Nobody talks about how fat their prom date is before they show up for the dance. OINK!
i am not saying that the X will not gain any weight over the IX, IT WILL, but,...
until all official information is released (mitsu site, brochures, etc) and the car sits on the dealers lots, i will not take any of it as FACT.
I will gladly come back to this thread when that time comes and admit my mistake, if thats the case.
Peace.

That disparity is the weight difference between a JDM and a USDM. This Evo is going to be a porker...there is no way around it.
Look at it from a realistic standpoint: You are adding a Turbo, Intercooler and all associated plumbing, beefier transmission, active ceneter differential, rear differential, driveshaft, active yaw control, larger wheels and tires, etc. All of that stuff weights at least 400+lbs...probably more. 3500lbs for a curb weight seems right about where it should be.

Now, you promised you would admit your mistake
What I wish Mitsu would have done is use the block from the Caliber SRT4 motor. I believe that is 2.3 or 2.4ltr? Hell, even the STI has a 2.5ltr just for the states, why can't we? Since Mitsu pussied out of the WRC this year and hasnt revealed plans of going back into the WRC (which I find very ironic considering their whole marketing campaign is 'rally' oriented), there is no point in retaining the 2.0ltr for racing homologation. When you've got so much heft to push, technology is only going to get you so far. As corny as it sounds (especially on an Evo forum), there is no replacement for displacement.
Yeah there is. It's called 35psi.
Honestly though guys we, of all car owners, should know that factory power outut is far less important than factory suspension setup. I have no doubt the 4B11 will end up being tunable to 400whp. The problem isn't the engine though. We've got 300lbs more *** to drag around now. It's like driving your VIII or IX with Shaq in your backseat...every day...all the time. When it comes to acceleration you can offset his big butt with more power but down a twisty mountain road...I dunno...this car is heavier than an E46 M3 now.
