The Evo X has a 5MT version and a dual-clutch version. So he is probably talking about the 5MT one.

Let's think about it seriously for a moment. If money is no object, then why not? If he's thinking about an Evo, then he wants a fast car. If he does not get an Evo, then he will get something else fast. The Evo is much easier to drive fast than most other similarly performing cars. The computer makes up for alot of bad driving skills. When Clarkson reviewed either the VIII or IX on Top Gear, he said that it was almost impossible to crash due to the electronics working overtime to keep the car on the road. We all know that it is very possible to crash an Evo, but it is probably harder to crash than a rear wheel drive hp monster. The only criticism I would have with starting with the Evo is that it is too easy to drive fast. If going to the track is something that you will want to do in the future, then start with a vehicle that will teach you the basics of handling. A car that you actually have to think hard about what to do in the corners. Once you become an expert at driving something like that, then the Evo or a similar car would be a dream to drive at the track.

Good luck and try to drive safely no matter what you get.

35K is a bit much for a first car id say, also like someone mentioned on the forums, that insurance and maintance r quite alot on something like the evo x and dont forget gas

also depending on ur age ur insurance will also be more expensive

and

i mean if ur a collage student or going to be, well assuming you have to pay for some of ur collage education id get a cheap car and wait out on the evo x, til after u graduate and until u can get a car on ur own, and not have to use ur parents money for a 35k car, if i were u id either skip out on a car for now or get a less expensive car and less hp car, which is more gas efficient, just as a starter car, nothing to expensive til u can actually pay for the car urself

if i were in ur case id get a regular lancer, or a fit, or a civic or something

but thats just me

but if ur spoiled and money is no option for u then go for it,

hell might as well get a porsche as ur 1st car or even a ferrari if money were no option jkjk

People still do this?

Man, I'm driving a RAV4 after the honda. I plan on picking up an Evo in late Feb. It's your decision. These people on the forums will tell you it's not the right one, but who cares. There are numerous threads on this.

AND I HIGHLY ****ING DOUBT, you have enough saved for a 35K + taxes + registration + gas.

It's impossible to be employed under age 16 (there are some loopholes) and I doubt a 7.50 wage is going to get you to 35K in 2 years with school in your way.

But what do I know, your mommy and daddy probably don't know 2 ****s about evos let alone the X.

yea, get a 2nd hand car for you to beat on it and learn how to take care of your car, before you get something you'll truely baby on...

for my first car i only got a lancer gts which i paid every penny for, but i've learned a lot about it already.. if i have a choice i'll go for a cheaper sport car (infinity G35/subaru/mazda) to experiement with.

Sheesh, kids these days don't know what it means to work for money. Honestly, I don't think it's right for kids to rely on their parents for big ticket luxury items like cars and such but hey if you were born with a golden spoon in your mouth good for you then. However, I think it's still better for you to start of small like a used WRX or 2.5RS, learn how to drive it properly (as in track day schooling) and then go ask mommy and daddy for an evo. That way, moms and pops aren't stuck with a 35k loan on a wrecked evo. Good luck with whatever you get.

Good for you Did the same when I bought my second, third and fourth cars. My first car (don't laugh it was a cougar v6), my dad took care of the down payment and I paid off the rest. Gas, maintenance and insurance I took care of as well. Nothing makes you love a car more than working hard to pay for it.

You guys are ALL *******s... and are jealous of his position! If his parents want to buy him a $35,000 car, you are not going to stop them! At least help the kid pick the best car in that range, instead of him getting a RWD Car and hopefully he will learn to be part of the minority that does not crash this car in this age group. I grew out of the minority, as I bought a 497awhp evo at 17 for my second car. Not one crash with a lot of miles. Just because you are young does not mean you will be idiot with the car. And yes, I bought every penny of the car, it is possible with school.

I'm 15 right now and im saving for my first car...i'm not planning on getting it till im 17 or 18, but the fact is in no way would i consider an evo for my first car....NEW OR OLD....I have driven my pop's Evo enough to know that it is not a typical "first car."....It is an awesome experience driving an evo and it needs to be really appreciated if you own one....

BTW.... what do ya'll think about a VR4 or an 850i manny for a first car

Nope, not jealous, just a little older and a little wiser.
