The question is too vague. What do you want out of your $35,000 car? Dragstrip, auto-X, cruising around town, lots of nice buttons to push, people staring at your car, reliability? If you want a fast, practical, 4-door vehicle that looks after you even if your driving skills are not that great, the Evo X might be a good choice. If you want good looks, fast in a straight line, and lots of attention, buy my Supra TT and you'll be set.
The point is, there is no best car for every situation. There are some that are good for many situations though, and the Evo is one of them.

Good luck.

i say go for it. don't really think the Evo is exactly the lady getter it should be for a 16 year old. i say look into a BMW 135i, chicks will see the BMW logo and will want to drive your stick. oh yeah, the 300 hp... RWD... doesn't hurt either.

but i'd look into other cars before going with the Evo. still an X would be sweet.

That's silly. If someone is willing to pay your way (smart or not) who are you to deny them? Get the EVO X and just be mature about it when you drive. When I was 17 I had a sh*tbox 86 Mustang GT with a Holley 650 that was FAR more dangerous than the EVO. No traction control, hell no safety nannies whatsoever. I think the first time I stomped on the gas I left a huge cloud of smoke and ended up sideways blocking traffic 60 feet down the road. Talk about a death ride LOL.

Just remember power requires proper handling. My Legacy GT is far more dangerous than my M3 because the suspension just plain sucks. It is no different than the base Legacy and they slapped on a turbo. If you downmarket to the Ralliart chances are it will be alot like my Legacy GT which means it will have weak spring rates, crappy sways and struts. It will have lots of nose lift under power and body roll that inspires 0 confidence in hard turning and weak grip on all seasons.

The EVO is a totally neutral handling car that inspires confidence when you drive and with all the techno nannies active it will do everything to keep you firmly planted on course under power.

this makes me wanna beat the hell outta the parents, when i was shopping for a car my parent did research on the vehicle i wanted. Did i get anything fast, hell no because I had to pay for it and it had to meet my parents standards. Iam greatful they loved me enuff to make sure i was safe with a car that wasn't to powerful for me.

this is the reason my insurance went up 120 a month on my evo, and thats with a perfect record. You wanna know why it went up, because dumbass people keep wrecking them and the car's rating keeps rising. At this point it may be cheaper to insure a ferrari.
