Nice find! Too bad the comparison wasn't with two healthy cars, or an X with the SST. A <1.5 second difference on a two and a half minute lap sounds close enough between the two cars for me.

It would have been nice to hear that the X walked all over the IX, but given the weight difference, and what comes with those lbs, the compromise on performance is worth it to me for a car that would have to perform as a daily driver in my household.

i'm sure in the later models the evo will pick-up in straight line performance. Once they introduce direct injection in the cylinder head, they can raise the compression ratio a lot higher and maybe have electronic controled shock absorbers it will only go up from where it's at right now. They don't have the funding like ferrari and lamborghini in a way that every new release will always be the fastest

Wow, I am kind of sad about the X. I really was hoping for more in terms of its performance on the track. I expected the results of the straight line to be what they are, but on the track it lost by a large margin as well. I own a IX, but that does not mean that I want the X to fail. I am sure the performance will improve as the X progresses to the XI, but I don't know that the X is going to sell with such disappointing numbers. If it fails bad, I wonder if we will see any more Evos here in the U.S.?

it did lose in the track time by ~1.5 seconds... but that's less than a 1% difference. i wouldn't say thats a large margin... that's actually pretty decent i'd say considering the added weight and all...

but then again.. with proven better grip etc.. you'd expect it to take the track time over the IX... but i guess the power and weight and such kicks in there and what not.... oh well... i dont got an evo cause im young and just got my first car... but i got my 08 GTS that im loving

Is there even a chance of gettin a new IX I went to a couple dealerships here in Ohio in mid August and when I told them i wanted another IX they told me I was crazy to just wait for the new X because its gonna be way better geez I want another IX now...... If i wasn't a bonehead and stopped to rest for the night instead of driving home the whole way from outta town resulting in me falling asleep at the wheel totaling my IX I would still have it......

is it because the IX samples in japan were RHD that is why they were slower in comparison to the X?

Not even a 'healthy' X,

Let alone the fact that I want to hear the reviews of a SST equipped X. Guess I'll have to wait awhile longer for that v_v

When the x was first tested and it was 2 sec faster than the ix everybody was saying how the x was a better track car but now when the ix is 1.5/1.7 sec quicker than the x you guys say it's only a 1% difference I find it amazing the ix picked up almost 4 sec in one test. Both models tested were gsr 5spd I can't wait for the MR sst vs. MR 6spd test but looking at the weight of the gsr the sst is gonna be a "pig" the ix MR 6spd is going to have a feild day on the sst. and did you guys see the old gsr getting better gas mileage than the X!
