Now that you mention it, yeah, you're right.

Especially bad if the estimated price of $35k is correct.

That stinks, C&D tested the JDM model GSR got 0-60 in 5.0 seconds quarter mile of 13.8, which I can live with. And the USDM is going to be about half a second slower? NO

Here is the spec sheet for the JDM Evo X they tested:

C&D ran 13.8 and MT ran 14.0....wouldn't that make the US version 0.2 slower? Sounds about right considering the extra weight.

Either way, it seems to be a high 13 second car.

I think the article is encouraging. The suspension in the GSR is garbage. A GSR with coilovers (my future car) will beat the IX on the track. The MR will beat the IX on the track.

0-60 in 5.4 seconds is not that bad. The UK has already developed an FQ series 360HP variant so getting additional power is hardly an issue.

This has always been a TUNERS car. Why is everyone freaking out?

Bingo! Try driving your IX by yourself and then driving with 2 other passengers. Notice any differences?

That is effectively what the X has to overcome and with only minimal gains in HP and Torque. Suspension voodoo magic can only do so much.

You mean that is going to hurt IX owners wanting to upgrade. Forget the fact that it is slower in all respects, I still think the IX is a MUCH better looking car. Plus the X doesnt have leather which i love about my IX.

will I still consider the X for future purchase? definitely yes, as I can use it as my daily driver while I put the IX MR in storage.

all i gotta say is the wrx sti costs as much as a bmw 135 and the evo if it's that slow is slower than the bmw 135 becase the bmw 335 is about 1.3 seconds slower than a 9mr around a track and the 10 is about that speed and the 135 is probably 100-200lbs lighter has 306hp up from 300 and is probably around 1 second a lap faster than a 335i so Im going to go get me a 135 and really wanted a evo it will still be down to a test drive but heck even a bmw 128 for around 32k will be 0-60 in the 6 second range and qtr mile in low 14 around 100mph like the evo 10 what a joke.

alright everybody CALM DOWN,

all this stuff is already known, refinement v. rawness, faster v. slower, lighter v. heavier, etc

the only thing that concerns me is how accurate the performance figures of the X are because of the fact that its pre-production + it was clearily stated that the car "choked" at higher RPM range.

I dont understand why you would want to test a IX v X when the X is limping, i guess to create another debate.

Well, as much as I want to freak out about how pathetic those numbers are, I will say this: lets reserve final judgement for a "healthy" production X GSR. I could care less about the performance numbers on a X MR as I don't believe in autos on sports cars and would never buy one anyway.

More disturbing than anything else though...a 3585lb curb weight!? Are you kidding me? That means the MR is going to weight like 3650+!! This Evo is going to make the Mustang look like Calista Flockhart... .

"but as the tach needle tickled 7000 rpm, the engine came down with a soft wheeze, a symptom that most likely cost the X a 10th or two at the track and dragstrip" (From MT Magazine)

Are you guys not paying attention when you read? This is extremely important, especially for drag racing. It seems like the car is losing a lot power at redline. I know everybody is excited to see the X vs. IX comparison, but it has to be apples to apples. I mean shame on Mitsubishi for not having a production model available with less than 2 months until they start showing up dealerships. I swear these Mitsubishi engineers remind me of the construction peeps who remodel my house, "We get payed by the hour mutherf*cker, we ain't in a rush."

Yes, but keep in mind that even when that motor is healthy, its still going to be like comparing a gazelle to a wildebeast.
