EVO X vs EVO IX, finally a test! MT
I agree, in a straight line it just isn't gonna be as fast as a IX. I guessimate a healthy model with a aggressive and capable driver should be around 4.9 to 5.1 Seconds to 60mph, 1/4 mile should be around 13.5 to 13.7 Seconds @ 99 to 101mph. The IX under the same scenerio is capable of 4.4 to 4.6 Seconds to 60mph, and the 1/4 mile in 13.0 to 13.2 Seconds @ 102 to 104mph. So there is no doubt that the IX in a straight line is a faster car, in fact the IX is perhaps one of the fastest production 4-cylinders in the world in a straight line.

But I'm pretty sure that isn't the case at all, the car just isn't ready. I mean that isn't the only thing, the interior isn't still all worked out, the SST tranny is still getting the kinks worked out, WTF Mitsubishi the clock is ticking, hurry the f*ck up!!!
"an asthmatic engine that seemed to suffer respiratory attacks near redline, a symptom Mitsubishi says was most likely an engine-control gremlin that would be sorted by production."
The test drivers most likely had to shift early to stay in the powerband. This isn't good at all, I remember once I received bad advice to shift my EVO IX at 6500-6600RPM at my local 1/8th mile drag strip. I ran a 9.2@76mph, absolutely rubbish. My best stock time was 8.6@82mph w/ a 2.0 60ft. So the point is, it does make a difference.

I doubt you will see it break into the 4's for a 0-60 time. The JDM model didn't even hit 4's did it? It'll probably hit 13.8-13.9 and trap close to 100 for a quarter-mile time. Its sad either way you look at it. I mean, I know its a "tuner" car, but you shouldn't have to tune it just to make it as fast as an stock prior generation car.

That is the trend, but it shouldnt be that way - every generation should be better than the last...period. The X is an underpowered whale in comparison to the IX.

hope X won't be priced up and will be easy to get
