4B11T MIVEC - valve timing AND lift?

Sorry if this has been posted already, but does the MIVEC on the 4B11T control both valve timing AND lift, or JUST valve timing?

Can't say with 100% certainty, but i'm pretty sure timing and lift were always part of MIVEC - even on the 4G63. The only difference in the MIVEC in the 4B11T is that the MIVEC now controls both intake and exhaust valve timing and lift versus just the exhaust cam valve timing and lift on the 4G63.

"MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system)[1] is the brand name of a variable valve timing engine technology developed by Mitsubishi Motors. MIVEC, as with other similar systems, varies the timing, lift and duration[2] of the valves by using two different camshaft profiles" - Wikipedia

Yeah, should have searched before commenting. Although, according to Wikipedia, technically i'm not entirely wrong because it did mention that the first iteration of MIVEC in the 4G92 1992 Lancer did have valve timing and lift.

WELL...let's just define MIVEC as mitsubishi's system that fiddles with the valves to some degree and leave it at that, since it is possible for a car to have timing-only MIVEC on just one cam, or full-blown MIVEC on both cams controlling timing, lift, and possibly duration depending on the other set of cam lobes. now, the question still remains: specifically on the x, are there 2 (or more?) different profiles on the cams, enabling it to vary the lift as well as timing?

this iteration of mivec is the same as on the IX MR, cam timing ONLY!!! mivec with lift is seen on cars like the 4G69 RA's.

here's the classic 4B11 training video. the evo x head is basically the same.

Yes, I apparently thought that MIVEC controlled the exhaust cam on 4G63 - I was wrong. Obviously because I got that wrong, that means I know nothing about Evos and thus should not have an opinion of the upcoming Evo. There is a course in school I would like you to take, dimviii, its called "Logic." Based on your response, I think it would be a challenging course for you.

Considering your information is wrong on the lift part also, I have to agree you may want to check your facts more carefully before posting. Then again most info posted here is usually wrong... the good news is that the resale value of both of our IXs is going to go up tremendously in the next few months!

For the 1,000th time.....who CARES about resale values?????

You aren't getting an X, because you love your IX....so why do you even care about resale values if you're not getting rid of it?? It doesn't make any sense.

The only people who are chiming in about resale values, are the same ones who aren't getting rid of their car!

@canexican

the course of ''logic''

your ''logic'' is that you don t know which cam is mivec on 4g63 but you don t like 4b11t with mivec on both cams

i would like to explain your logic to us for a motor that you ve seen only in photos

Ok, what are you talking about dude. When did I ever say I didnt like the 4B11T? Oh wait, I didn't say that...you did.

Your failed logic is that just because I didnt know a specific feature of MIVEC in the 4G63, that automatically makes me ignorant on the vehicle as a whole. By your flawed logic, this apparently also means that i'm ignorant to how the 4B11T works and also that I'm just as unfamiliar with the Evo X. Like I said before, take the logic class and also be sure to take a class on reading comprehension as you seem to not be able to accurately recall my previous posts .
