I got a call from one of the dealers after saying to forget it but i had already stuck with one that NEVER mentioned a marckup and made it clear on what its going to cost me. Difference is, the ones that mentioned markup all were popular locations and the one that didnt was in the "hood". I'm getting the same EVO and I avoided all them hotshot salesman breathing down my neck. Besides, they were more attentive and helpful and MUCH more informative in the "hood" dealership.

yea just telling you my story, hope it helps you.
thanks

Markup? And mitsubishi wants to know why the company is going down the gutter in the U.S? If anything they should be discounting the thing.

ya a lot of the dealers are screwing that up... but as soon as they realize they are not going to sell them for that money the dealers that do mark them up will change their minds (assuming not many people will pay the market adjustment)

what a lot of dealers might be thinking is that they may as well try to get the extra money, but be willing to do away with the adjustment at the first sign of it getting in the way of a sale

thats not true, I bought on 06 eclipse on July 1,2005 I think that is only 1 month after they came out. I got 2,000 off the manufacture price. not no mark up price.

Markups usually apply to very hot desirable cars that have plenty of Buzz and performance. Not to bust your bubble but the 06 eclipse had neither. A redesign alone doesn’t justify a markup. If that were the case the new redesigned Honda Accord should get marked up. The car also has to have the goods and have special features or performance not found in the cars in its class. The 06 eclipse has none of those.

That wont necessarily happen. Because of the volume of evos and cars in general they sell, they may have more room to work with. So not every dealer will be able to give the same price. The question is if its a fair price for your region

I talked to West Loop Mitsu in San Antonio today and was told they were adding a $2500-$3500 market adjustment to their EVOs . They sai dthey would be getting 7 in within 2 weeks.

i thought mark ups were due to the demand of the car itself...

In a nutshell yes. But its always the performance of the car that causes the demand in the first place.

Hawaii Mitsubishi is gonna be the worst out of all dealers in the US. When I first got to the island I checked out HI Mitsu and GSR's were priced over $42k, MR's for over $47k. This was WELL after the release of the IX (Sep '06 to be exact).

Just look the sales manager in the eye and say "I am ready to buy the car right now for MSRP, but I refuse to pay any dealer mark-up." Give him one minute to answer, then walk out if the answer isn't yes.

when i bought my IX MR it was the same thing. i got the first one that arrived in TX. the sticker price was 36,894, and they had it marked up to 38,373. i got it for 36,500 + free window tint, and a few other accessories. the general manager was PISSED when he found out the salesman and manager authorized money off their first MR. he tried to sneak in a bunch of extra charges on the backend (finance) to make up the dealer markup and discount. it didn't work though haha. i would expect them to try the same thing for the X

I always find it funny that people are so vehemently opposed to paying mark-up but more than willing to pay MSRP.

Anyone who pays MSRP is throwing money away as well!
