really? I went to shaumburg mitsu and they are selling for msrp, msrp was just under 33k, plus the 2k bodykit package from mitsu on one fo the cars there. Salesman told me that they didn't want to price gouge cuz customers won't come back, plus they should have another 10 or so comming in soon anyways.

the problem is that there will always be idiots that pay the price even if there is a 4k markup. When I bought my 9MR, the local dealer wanted 41k!!!! and the worse part is that he sold 2 like that!! I paid 33K at south coast!!!

Yep the long trip is well worth it when it comes to savings like that. Just because the car is priced for the privileged (as some would say), doesn't mean you have to pay their prices.

These dealers are nuts. Let them sit on the cars for a while. There are plenty of places to pick up a X for invoice or slightly over.

Yeah, once the cars sit in the showroom and enough people walk out on the deal; the dealers will come to there senses.

I stopped in at Fairfield Mitsubishi here in Northern, CA on Sunday. They had two red and one graphite X's on the lot. I had no intent to buy on Sunday but I thought I'd go see if they were dealing.

So I inspect the two right outside the showroom ($4995 markups) and then went into the showroom and saw the same on the 3rd. I'm thinking to myself, ok...this is what most dealers will do right off the bat. Typically I deal only with internet managers...but I gave the leather jacket wearing sales guy a shot.

He went on to tell me that not only are the Evo X's IMPOSSIBLE to get (nevermind that they had 3 right there) but the dealership wasn't budging on the marked up price. In not so many words he called me a liar when I told him I got my '04 GSR for $200 under invoice. He also said that it was impossible that South Coast was selling their X's for invoice.

All of this was expected of course. So, moral of the story...be patient and wait for the "frenzy" (his words) of high demand to die down.

Oh, and don't deal with the cocky salesmen that think you are an uninformed buyer.

Seems like all the dealers around here....I sure see a lot of Evos sitting at Mitsu dealers but there is "high demand" My boss (who has 2 family members that work at Mitsubishi) asked about the car, no deals whatsoever because the car is "hot" Apparently not, if there are cars still at dearlships.
