Evo X markup

A local Mitsubishi dealer just called and let me know the models that they had coming in. They will have 3 cars on the lot arriving on 1/23/08.

She said that they were going to use a $2,995 markup on all x's

Is this information consistent with the rest of you?

i know they used to put some "market adjustments" on it...
I'm not sure how will the almost $3k mark up work. Or how they will justify it...

^exactly. As long as everybody doesn't go get one at once, I think we'll be fine.

I understand what you both are talking about. There is no way to get good deal on a new car within the first month of release. However, I am curious to see the range of these markups nationwide

These guys are allegedly going to sell Evo Xs at, or around, MSRP right at launch. They are in Southern California. Not sure if they are a good or bad dealership, but they don't seem to be planning to price gouge.

If he tries to charge you a mark-up then laugh in his face. Tell him straight up you want the car and you'll take it off his hands, but you'll walk if he tries to tack on some money for himself on your Evo X.

If he doesn't budge, then **** it, that's his loss. Take your business elsewhere.

MOST larger dealerships nowadays have an internet sales manager. they are your best bet. the salesmen on the lot are trying to make commission using high-pressure sales tactics. the best course of action is to get pre-approved through a financial institution, then call around the different dealerships till you find the deal you want. if you arrive and they try to change things or add charges, just walk and take your business elsewhere. what i did was keep going to my local dealer till they caved and i got MSRP. you can do that too. just be willing to walk at the first sign of a bad deal and you'll always have the upper hand. just don't let them handle the financing because they'll always figure out creative ways to get your money.

Guys. Contact Derek @ York Mitsubishi. They are selling their cars with NO additional markup. These guys are by far the most honest and kind auto dealers I have every worked with.

ouch being a car salesman that hurts..... if you know the market rates they cant do anything that will take money from you.... a lot of times they may even have better rates than you can get actually

i went to several mitsus here in miami and ALL of them spoke of a markup. however, 3k is a little out there... I just refused to accept any markups so usually they ended up telling me 1k only and i just walk out. I got a call from one of the dealers after saying to forget it but i had already stuck with one that NEVER mentioned a marckup and made it clear on what its going to cost me. Difference is, the ones that mentioned markup all were popular locations and the one that didnt was in the "hood". I'm getting the same EVO and I avoided all them hotshot salesman breathing down my neck. Besides, they were more attentive and helpful and MUCH more informative in the "hood" dealership.

yea just telling you my story, hope it helps you.

There are a number of dealerships that are vendors on here and not charging markups. Some even say they will be offering discounts immediately. Unless you don't want to/can't get it from one of these, live in a smaller area, and want one of the first ones on the lot, you should not need to pay any markup at all
