Evo X Finally Out In Vancouver, Canada!
Yea, the pics are of the Evo that's at New Type in Richmond.
Initially, New Type Mitsubishi had the car priced at MSRP, CA$41,495. But I think after they heard that the other Vancouver area dealers were selling higher than MSRP, they raised the price to CA$44,478. Destination and handling charges were CA$1245. So the total was CA$45,993.

I got mine from kelowna for 1000 under MRSP, i guess they didnt hear the news.
Looking at this piece, it does seem to be added onto the bumper. It definitely is not a single piece with the entire bumper/diffuser. My guess is that it's just a plastic piece that's been added onto the US model bumper. The question is how is it mounted and what's underneath. Is it just body cladding and mounted with double sided tape? Or is it actually bolted on, which means there would be screwholes on the bumper that would need to be covered up once the piece is removed.
For me, I will be removing that piece immediately once I get the car. It just looks nasty! I will post up the removal process if anyone is interested.

I think I'm more upset over the fact there there are no options for the GSR (no HID's) more so than the bumper. At least we can just buy a USDM bumper and replace with that. But for the HID's, it's not as simple as buying it and replacing it.
Thats the only thing i dont like about my car...no SSS/Aero/nav packages at all, its all MR only.
Yeah thats pretty lame, looks like they want to extract people out of even MORE cash by forcing them to get the MR if they want the goodies. Ridiculous. As if over charging on the base price wasnt enough!

Ah! Let us know when you do actually take the car. So far, it seems that the dealers are not letting the cars go yet. What I've been told is that each dealer only has one car right now for display purposes, and won't release the single units they have until they receive more cars. Don't know if that's true or not, but at least in Vancouver, the Evo X have been in showroom for almost two weeks now, and none are on the road yet. And I know a few people who have deposits down on them.

Thanks for the pics. It looks like a separate piece yes. But it looks like they've also modified the US bumper to accomodate this extra piece. So it won't just be a matter of removing it, and getting it to look like the US version of the car. Looks like you might need an entire US bumper replacement.

yea, that's quite a disappointment for me also, considering that the Canadian STi comes standard with HID projectors now
Does anyone know if the MR is supposed to be available with 5spd manual transmission? I was under the impression that it will only come with the DC-SST. The SST is the biggest reason why I don't want a MR. I want the features of the MR such as the HID and aero, but not the SST. So the way Mitsu has set up the trim levels in Canada is pretty stupid.
Regarding price, I think CA$41,495 MSRP for a EVO X GSR is not that bad in Canada, it's expected. Yea, there are other cars that are in that range, but really, 40k doesn't get you a lot. TSX is in that area. It's enough to get a WRX, but not a STi yet. An entry level luxury car. It's just the way the Canadian car market is. On the other hand, I think the EVO X MR Premium is way too expensive at CA$51,000. At that price, you really are competing with some decent cars.
