Canadian rear bumper modifications?
As I'm anxiously waiting for my X, I tought I should explore this topic... (I know it's been discussed a little in other threads... but was not able to find an answer.) A lot of you may know that up north we get an ugly "add-on" to the rear bumper to conform to (stupid) canadian regulations!
I was wondering if any of you lucky guys who already got their X in Canada started to look if this thing is removable, and if yes, how do you do it...
It will probably be the first thing I do to my X, even before I put a single song on the hard drive!
Let's rip it off!

I'm picking up a white Evo X next week and one of the first things I'm going to look into is the rear bumper. I will post up pics and a how-to if removing the add-on piece is do-able.

I'm actually getting a PB MR... wich is one of the reasons I wouldn't mind having some "fast plugs" in the bumper since they are not going to be so apparent. It will actually look like backup sensors (not that I like those, I find that if you can't back up in a car or object, then maybe you shouldn't be driving!).
Let's hope it's not too firmly fixed... I looked at it in the showroom the other day and it seem pretty loose so there is hope.
BTW, machron1, if you want to switch bumpers... I guess there is going to be a lot of interested people in Canada!

Here are a (not the best quality but you get the idea...). The black "cheap looking" plastic piece that runs all along the rear bumber is a add-on to conform to CDN rules.
I was thinking the other day... it would have looked probably better with the base lancer bumper!
You can see more pictures of it at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mitsubishicanada/page18/
Funny those pics where taken last october in Ontario, with MRs and GSRs with canadian specs... It was kept secret until January...

i dont think it looks all that bad if someone made a diffuser accentuating those lines along with an exhaust that stuck out like 2 more inches i think it might look good. you know it just looks like underneath the piece its all sunk it if it had been brought down more like the bulginess it might have looked bearable. idk maybe its just horrible and theres no way to fix it. O are those black ones mr's or gsr's

I think I'd be more pissed about having to pay 25% more for a Canadian Evo than an American Evo with our dollar above theirs currently, not the cheap plastic cover on our bumpers!

On the west coast (US ofcourse) people are paying <$40K for fully loaded GSR's. Out here in Canada dealers are charging close to $50K for a bonestock GSR (cause thats all that is available here). Oh and not to mention an ugly bumper thrown in...Priceless.

I didn't have any trouble finding mine for 1000$ under MSRP in Canada. 50k is way too ridiculous even in edmonton. hell you can go to red deer and get one for 1k over mrsp or so i've heard.
