Evo X Problems?

Hello,

I'm still narrowing down my car search and believe me when I say that I WANT to love and buy the Evo X. The looks appeal to me, the handling and performance appeal to me and the feel of the Recaros appeal to me.

With that in mind, the #1 and only reason I haven't purchased an Evo X yet is my apprehension for car issues. My biggest concern relates to the grinding issue--I love driving stick and if my gears grind every time I drive, it takes a little piece of my heart.

For all Evo X owners, would you kindly reply with any issues/problems (no matter how small) you have experienced. Yes, I realize that the most picky owners are those who use this forum but I'd like to get any feedback.

Thank you.

Notchy Gearbox So Bad That It's bordering on a grind. Other than that the car is perfect in every way to me . Love/hate relationship right now until the notchy problem gets solved and fixed. Then it'll be all love.

Hmm I actually love the feel of the new gearbox. Compared to my 05 MR this new unit definitely feels better imo.

also the car seems to stall in neutral when low on fuel...other then what sti2evox mentioned every thing seems to be perfect for me. the pros just out weigh the cons at this moment.

fittest i know what you mean $35k is a lot of money.... and i love the car but it scary to pay so much and jump into a car that has problems with the basic mechanics of the car... like the transmission... scares the **** out of me... i have the fully loaded gts and before that an 96 gsx eclipse... i cant stand how slow my gts is

Get front mudflaps/splashguards as soon as possible! Maybe that's something you could get the dealer to throw in on the deal...Check out the sticky thread...that's my biggest problem with the X.

Notchiness between 1-2. Hesitation at 6500 rpm. RPMs wildly jump around when the car is in neutral occasionally. Stock radio is in a poor, inconvenient location.

usual gizmo's with the car with brand new platform and engine. Nothing unusual.
And a lots of hidden potential, wich is a more important when you buy a performance car.

I guess I should be glad I got the Aero package that everyone makes fun of. I don't have any rock chip issues and I'm driving in wonderful Indiana sanded and salted winter roads

My tranny is perfect, and I love the NAV unit and radio more than anything. It is one of the best cars I have ever driven.

The one issue I do have is the hesitation at WOT in upper RPMs, but it is hardly noticable and I hear Mitsu is going to have a reflash to take care of this.

The problems I noticed with mine are

1. sometimes it seems like it takes a few more revolutions to start sometimes(supposed the be a flash to fix this and the following gripe from mitsu)
2. Sometmes it searches through the RPM when it is idleing(spelling)
3. Grinding in the transmission(hopefully mitsu will fix this)
4. the stumbling at higher RPM's(probably due to unning so rich)

And that about sums it up for me. people talk about the stock nav/radio being crappy and all but honestly I dont have any problems with it at all.

having owned 3 turbo mitsus the gear box is as its always been, slightly smoother in fact. the idle issues/stumbling at high rpms will go away with the reflash or even a drop in filter (as a lot of us have found out), since its just a matter of running rich

but if all of you are holding your breath for some magical tranny fix, good luck. just throw some bg synchroshift II in there and call it a day.

other than that everyones issues are personal taste. if the stereo is crappy, get a new one, dont like the wing, get a new one, hate the interior, get a new one...

The only problems I face is when parking at a parking lot, People trys to stop me just
to tell me how cool, and nice My WW- GSR+SSS+ Aero looks. But dont ask my buddys
who park right next to me in their new bmw 135, Maybe people just see an
BMW as any other BMW, a dime a dozen, Plus there is so many 3 series running around, The avg Joe just seeing a One series Just look at it like a lesser BMW anyways.
Other then that the same basic issue as everyone else

Or the Aero kit which gives the same results.
