Yep. And if the thing you're drafting is an 18-wheeler, you don't even have to get very close. Their wake is HUGE.

Mythbusters actually did a segment on draft and concluded that you had to be within ~5' (IIRC) of the vehicle ahead to make any measurable difference.

It's more likely that you're staying out of boost, as you're behind a (likely) slower moving vehicle.

I don't know if I would draft a truck and get sandblasted with rocks and other road debris just to save a few cents of fuel daily. Or tailgate anybody else for the same reason.

I doubt Mythbusters did it with an 18-wheeler.

I don't know where you got the idea I was doing it daily.
Or that your car gets "sandblasted" if you do it.

Doubt all you want, the video is quite easy to find...

*edit* After a quick look, apparently I did not remember their findings correctly. Oh well.

I'd say it really depends on the driver. I have full bolt-ons and new cams, and on the highway I can squeeze out 21 sometimes if conditions are right. City I'm around 12-15, and if I drive it how it was meant to be driven, more around 8-10 lol But we don't Evo's for the good gas mileage right? XD

Can't use the vehicles gauge since injectors and fuel pump have been upgraded. If I'm driving nice I'll get 250-280/tank. Sometimes it's under 200/tank...and that's not even with e85. Similar to my old rx8, except this car doesn't chug the oil too. lol

My evo was reflashed before I bought at 6000 miles so I don't know how "bad" it was before but honestly the gas mileage isn't amazing at all. I believe my exhaust mods might be the reasoning behind that as well but I fill up every couple days it seems like, I assume I get 16mpg if that and it is a mix of city and interstate.

How many miles a week do you average? I do like 200-250ish and fillup once every 6-7 days

...Maybe with a tune I might just be able to break 30mpg, we'll see. I know this is a rally car for the road but you CAN have power and economy, you just have to figure out what works.
Well, it's been a while... Any news, KRome?
