EVO X sales

So the X was refined and 'softened' a bit to have more of a mass appeal to boost sales by drawing in BMW, Audi, etc. potential buyers. At least that was Mitsu's pitch. Are there sales volume numbers out yet? I'd be curious to see X monthly sales vs IX.

Anyone know?

Nothing is selling. The local BMW dealer, which is a selling machine, is selling all Minis. The price of gas is killing performance cars.

The price of gas and the economy. Kinda like a double edge sword

^ +1.. maybe if they got rid of the ridiculous markups, they would move some more cars.

Someone posted the March numbers on here and IIRC, the X outsold the 9 when comparing March 08 and March 07. But as noted above, it will be tuff to really compare with the difference in the economy in 07 vs. 08.

Yea, but since the 9 wasn't even being made anymore by March '07, many people rightfully questioned that statistic. I don't think comparing the sales of "last year's leftovers" vs. a new model introduction is particularly telling.

yup. and thatsalso comparing a niche car to a mass marketed car. I see commercials featuring the Evo X every day. I never once saw an Evo in a commercial from 2005 to 2008 until the "go time" commercials.

People that pay 40k for a car can easily afford $4/gallon for fuel.

I know people that run race gas 24/7. We fat Americans have plenty of $$ for fuel and cars.

It's actually a great time to buy a performance car.

However the whole economy is suffering right now.

the issue is the mark up. The mitsubishi dealer that I bought from has no mark up and has sold all but 3 of thier 8 EVOs (one to me )

To show the issues, there are 2 Subaru dealers here, 1 marks up the STis 2K just because, the other does not. They are on completely different sides of the city so really no direct competition for most customers. The one that marks up has sold none of its STis while the other dealership has sold all but 1.
