Evo X looks like standard Lancer?
doesn't bother me at all. people know what my car is. I've had kids (10-14) stare at my car even. haha. i've seen gts's at a distance and wondered if it was an Evo at first but when they get closer i see what it really is. then i'm like oh that looks pretty good, but its no Evo.
Definitely does not bother me because its the minor differences that the trained eye picks up on that distinguishes between the two cars (aside from the badges obviously). But thats me, i like less flash...to me, less is more.
The Evo's pretty wild looking. You guys don't have too much to worry about -- there's not much in the $35,000 range that looks nearly as mean. Stop complaining so damn much and go enjoy the car. The GTS/Ralliart have a similar look, but the people who know cars know the difference. Realistically, the Ralliart SHOULD look a little bit like the Evo, all things considered.
Evo 1-6.5 had "same look" as their regular Lancer model trims....just basically different front bumper, hood, rear bumper, and wing along with different drivetrain, technology, suspension, and motor.
Evo 7-9 was the only genre Evo that had a "seperate" exterior design difference to regular Lancers...the only thing that gave it away that they Evo's and Lancers were the "same" was the interior.
So now the Evo X and the new Lancers are out...its basically like when the Evo's 1-6.5. Lancers and Evo's have alot of exterior similarities...but several exterior difference, technology, drivetrain, suspension, and engine seperate the regular Lancers from the Evo's.

evo's 7-9 were modeled after the lancer cedia, evo;s designed based on the lancer
unsure which came first for the X
no, because im still the only person in the triad area(winston, high point, greensboro) of nc who has a lancer, let alone an evo. ive only seen 2 other lancers on the road since the beginning of the year and ive traveled over 6 states. i'm not saying they aren't out there, but there aren't many, so i guess NO i'm not really concerned nor bothered.

There has been more than one time I've pulled up to a 08' lancer thinking it was an X . I've never confused the pevious generation since the look is pretty different. Maybe if you have an X or a 08 Lancer its obvious but to the average joe, it takes a second or two.
"The Evolution I was introduced in 1992 to compete in the World Rally Championship. It used the 2.0 L turbocharged DOHC engine and 4WD drivetrain from the original Galant VR-4 in a Lancer chassis, and was sold in GSR and RS models. The latter was a stripped-down club racing version that lacked power windows and seats, anti-lock brakes, a rear wiper, and had steel wheels to save approximately 155 lb (70 kg) less than the 2,730 lb (1,238 kg) GSR, while the former came with all of the conveniences of a typical street car. It came with Mitsubishi's 4G63 engine producing 250 PS (244 hp/182 kW) at 6000 rpm and 228 ft·lbf (309 N·m) at 3000 rpm, along with all wheel drive which would become a trademark on all Evolution models. 5,000 of the first generation Evolutions were sold between 1992 and 1993."
The EVO 7-9 were based on the larger lancer "cedia" platform, which merely is the chassis code, as in CT9A. Hope this clears things up a bit.
I don't even own an EVO or a lancer and I can sure as hell tell the difference between the two. It's not like the Mazda 3 and Mazdaspeed 3 those car I can't tell apart unless I see it standing!
I like the fact that not everyone looks at my car in awe. But those who do look, I know that they recognised it. So, I am actually pleased that Evo's do look like regular lancers, because if i wanted attention, I would drive other cars.
I don't get why this question should be aimed for Xs, or IX's or any other model in particular. We all share the same breed and face more or less the same reactions.

When I see an evo 8/9 drive by, I can immediately tell that it's an evo, not just a lancer with a huge wing. The new X you have to check twice to see if it really is an evo. I like how they look though, and I would like to get some 18's off of one later.
