if it helps any.... WRXs are easily mistaken for STIs to the common person but there obvious differences... I think the bottom line is both the EVO and STI carry an enthusiast population that obviously knows the difference... just ask yourself this question, how would you feel if you owned just a Lancer??? Versus knowing that you own an EVO

Need I say more...

I think it makes them slightly sleeper. In my VIII it is pretty obvious what it is, but in a X the dude in his muscle car thinks he just got smoked by some guys lancer.

Even better, let him think his muscle car got beat by a $10,000 Lancer. It'll do wonders for his self esteem.

I get looks and thumbs up all the time..... as society grows with the "cool" factor for these cars...... people know what it is..... even some soccer moms.....

but honestly most car guys know the evo, and they can be spotted very easily..... Just like the srt-4, very easily spotted car that looks almost identical to the neon.

like somone said earlyer to the average person the x looks like a lancer visa versa..but just when you get close on it...the x looks so much more agressive..and the widebody kit really sets it off..mitsu did a good job making direct differences between the two

also i think the wrx and sti are harder to tell apart than a regular lancer and evo x..

i mean for me..i look on the front and if i see a intercooler..ok evo..but wrx they both have intercooler both CAN have the big wing..no duals so both single..same tail lights...

The day I got my car I was at a gas station with my dealer fillin' up, and this guy, pretty darn old, with one of those nice big fancy Audi's is at the pump next to us and asked a few questions!

when the ralliart comes out that's going to be another dilemma - fmic, dual exhaust, sst ...

The ralliart will not have the fenders etc though...

One question, why did the guy with the Non-evo lancer spend so much money to make it look like an EVO?? Seems he spent almost as much as he had just bought one to begin with

Again, I don't care if it looks significantly different as the Lancer is a nice design anyway. Happy that it is a good looking car and is one reason I bought it, don't care so much that people go "Wow!! you have an EVO!"...

Don't really need that validation.

I kinda like the fact that the X looks like the regular Lancer...helps me blend in a little more.
