No kidding. Even if he isn't captured by the warranty-voiding brigade, why would you want your full name online anyway?

A thief could look him up in the phonebook, using the city and state he's helpfully provided in his "Location" information, and know a new Evo's nightly resting place.

Quote: Why buy a performance car if your not going to make it perform.

Evos are uncomfortable and fast, You don't buy an evo for a smooth and economical ride.
I disagree with this. The design of this iteration of the Evolution was specifically to be more comfortable and useable in a daily setting. I explicitely bought my Evo for this reason. I DD this car, and don't get me wrong.. this car definitely benefits from modding and tuning it properly.

I think the real question the OP has to ask is "do you want to risk a voided warranty", plain and simple. If your car is bone stock, yes you can still get nailed with the "abuse" flag, but at least you have a little more ground for your argument.

If you're not so worried about that and want to test out the real power that the car can produce, by all means mod away. One person's reasoning for modding before the warranty is up on this forum doesn't have to justify yours. If you think you might end up relying on the manufacturer for maintenence and random tidbits in the future, modding now might not be a good idea. If that's not a concern, well then there's plenty of reasons to start modding now. In the end, it's your car, your warranty, your choice. Hopefully whichever choice you do end up going with is one you're content with.

haha, thanks for the advice! Already done!!

Quote: So Chuynh, you think that more power wouldn't benefit you on a road race course? I guess you don't know much about cars, so let me break it down for you. It's all about usable power under the curve when it comes to road racing. The focus of modding an engine for road racing is on mid rpm power more so than top rpm power, but it really depends on the track. If you were to look at a 500 hp evo vs a 1000 hp evo on a technical track then the 1000 hp evo would get it's *** kicked because to make that much power it would have to be running a turbo so big that it would hve no ***** down low and thus no power coming out of the turns.

However, that same 500 hp evo would walk all over a stock evo even if it has a little bit more lag due to a slightly bigger turbo because it trades only a little bit of spool time for a LOT more power. Especially consider that if you took a stock evo X and ran it against a X with nothing more than a reflash, the tuned X would absolutely crush the stock X because they would both be on the same sized turbo and the tuned X would spool faster, it would hit harder and make more power everywhere under the curve, and have more top end power. So to answer your question, that's why you should modify your car.
Yes, thanks for the advice. I really don't know a whole lot about cars as I should and I'm not all too familiar with road racing and track racing. I'm gonna start going to you for advice!! Thanks a lot!!!

I'm actually considering getting ETS everything, except for the intake of course. After I get ETS everything, I'm probably gonna get the WORKS tune to smooth everything out and gain the most out of all my mods. The only thing that's keeping me from getting ETS everything though, is the fact that they don't have a TBE yet. I like uniformity so I like to have all my performance parts or at least MOST of them, from ONE vendor. I've had experiences with multiple vendors for multiple parts and that just doesn't float my boat. But that's just my personal opinon.

haha, yeh... I've been planning on what to mod my X with since I started looking into it back in November of '07. The only thing I don't like about ETS right now is that their exhaust is only a cat-back, I'd prefer a TB, but we'll see...
