From everything I can find in the Evo x forums about antennas, I'm cutting mine where the skinny part meets the fatter part. Haven't seen a good deal on an aftermarket one that is short enough to look good & work well

The stock one can barely get any reception as it is. Why go with a shorty, knowing you will get even less reception. Save yourself some money and time. Keep the stock antenna.

If you really have a "hard on" to get a shorty antenna, there are plenty of members that made the mistake of buying them, now selling them in the classified section..

Get the antenna from a new 2010 Lancer or Evo, they look nice and are cheap.

I grabbed this one, cheap and looks better than the Perrin.

Factory cut with factory end!!! It's about 8" shorter. I know the end looks a little messy. it is because when I stuck the tip back on it it rolled the rubber down a bit. I fixed it after I took the pics.

I have the perrin shorty 4". looks great, and still have good reception when using the satalite radio.

I think it's maybe around 4" and I'm thinking the 2008 had the longer, wire-thin, RC-car type antenna.

The one I bought came with a ring that went between the base of the antenna, and the car. It's not perfect, but better than leaving it exposed. Looks great IMO. Just wish it were matte black and not gloss, so that it would match the black base on the car.
