well I was talking more or less about the track time. The previous STI only hit a time of 1.29.4 and that was the suped up model This year it hit 1.28.2. the EVO 8(400hp) hit a time of 1.28.9 and the EVO X(300hp Auto) hit 1.28.22

The VIII FQ400 did 1:24ish. The VIII FQ300 did the 1:28.

People need not take these lap times VERY seriously. So many varibles other then the car and driver that makes the lap time. Tenths of a second are nothing really when comparing cares. when RACING, this isn't true, but lap time to lap time, who cares?

 

Most reviews that I've seen published so far give the EVO X an edge over the STi in lap times, was kinda odd seeing the 2 hundreths better from the STi on Top Gear, maybe the driver's style was more suited to the Subby.

 

The EVO 8 FQ400 ran much faster than that. Stig doesn't decide what car is faster alone. No matter how good a driver he is. One track and one driver can't do that. The STI gets spanked everywhere else. EVO X - a hole bunch STI - one (by .02 of a sec lol against the auto)

How many of you are going to race on the track (not track days but real racing)? Probably less than 1%. From the video looks like the driving excitement is more on the Evo X than the STI so I say the Evo X is a better car for that purpose which is what the car is more less built for.

 

Win or lose, these two cars are close in comparison and are both great cars. I don't see why people get all worked up everytime one car gets better numbers than the other. Also, the whole point of a "review" is to see an "opinion". There's no need to put a show/mag down just because it disagreed with our biases toward our cars.

Didn't Best Motoring International actually test the EVOX against the MR in a racing setting (like they always do)? And basically - it showed that the SST sucked in the track (ended up losing, having lower overall best lap time, and overheating or something). The 5-speed beat it easily.

If TopGear actually tested it with the 5-speed, I'm sure they would have gotten a better time.

 

Depends on which track, tighter tracks favor the evo and tracks with long sweaping corners balance the Evo and STI which in terms favor the STI.
