Visit to mitsu...
No he's not joking, and I totally agree with him. And it really depends on what the "other cars" were that were "2x as much."
There's a higher chance of the Evo being driven hard (and more of a demand to do so by teenagers, i speak from my own experience *years ago*), than say, a Lexus, which will most likely cost more, or even a Porsche, I'm sure won't be driven that hard on the test.

Most dealers around here have a demo or loaner car that they use for test drives so that the cars on the lot don't rack up the miles.
And if I were to buy a car, I'd sure as hell would hate to get one of those 4.
does this dealers have a demo car. i have a dealer near me that sells very few evos a year and they dont do test drives...thats just the way it is. now if the dealer has a test car and still refuses you, then you must really look like a bag of ssshiitt walking in there. put on some kacky pants ( not down your ***) and a polo shirt , speak like a human," ya digg"
Well are you ready to buy the car or what? I am getting tired of reading these threads everyday. Go there and either show them your check book or get approved for financing and then I bet they will let you drive it. Until then you are just wasting their time.......espicially since you have been there three times now.
Then they talked me into doing ANOTHER credit check (which i really didnt want to do), just so i could drive the car. Once that had approved with flying colors, they STILL wouldnt let me drive it. They wanted me to sign paper work first.
So after three days of going to the dealer like the OP, i still havnt driven one. This was a couple weeks ago. Now i know that im gonna be driving to SC mitsu in cali to get the car. Courtest mitsu in henderson, NV is a joke!
I bought my evo VIII without ever test driving it, but I really didn't care at the time. However the evo X is a different story. I've been checking out the evo X for some time now and have visited several mitsu dealers and they gave me the same story about no test drives being allowed without going through paperwork. I do agree that is it ridiculous.
One thing that I wanted to share is that I went online at edmunds.com to check out some things on the evo X and I saw that you can request price quotes from local dealers. I figured I'd give it a shot and the next day I had a mitsu dealer calling me. I explained to them my frustrations and concerns about the car and without me even asking for a test drive they offered me one. They have been a pleasure to work with and don't play games with you. Maybe this is something that might help.

xrate, if you own a mustang gt, you pops should have at least a mercedez or bmw. roll into the dealer with that, see what happens.
to be honest, i dont think a mustang gt is gonna b any good to help you test drive the car. trust me im 22, and none of my parents are here. youve gotta drive something better/more expensive than the evo, and then expect to be treated right. Just a thought.

why does it always come down to age with threads like this? im sorry but ive been to a couple of meets in brooklyn been to races on the hutch the sprain been to the mcdonalds parking lot on connor street and the majority of ppl i see driving evos are 17-26 yer olds and now a days you really cant tell the age of someone by appearance...most of these kids bust their a$$e$ to get these cars too so dont give me the mommy and daddy bought it for them...these dealers are out for one thing and thats the signature on that contract with money in hand...thats it.
now i will breath.
