Mitsubishi Canada = smoking teh crack?
Ok, for kicks I went over to a Mitsubishi dealership here today in Edmonton. The guy basically told me $58,000+ CDN (without TAX) for the 2008 MR (He didn't even want to tell me the price hah.. I said "is it $52,000?" since thats about $4 over MSRP) He tells me "well that's MSRP.. and says there is roughly $6000 mark up... and proceeds to tell me that he knows a couple people that have driven them over 300 KM/hour. (uh wow?) Then tells me the manager races and beats M3's all the time.
I asked him more about the huge markup, then he says they're selling REALLY quickly... since a partial owner of the store, the manager and another salesman there bought Evo's. (must be nice without the $6000-7000 markup?) Then he says the MR is really limited like the GTR...
I'm sorry but Mitsubishi Canada is smoking crack rocks if they think their pricing is realistic. For $60k I'd personally rather have a BMW 335xi.
Are all the Mitsubishi Canada dealers complete tools like the guy I talked to today?
The most I can see myself paying for the 2008 MR is around $45k.. anyways.. just ranting.. the salesman was a dork.

You are dealing with idiot low-level sales hacks. These people will say anything to try and sell you a car. The MRs are NOT flying off the shelf here in Ontario thats for sure, and with the 135i being the same price there is stiff competition for cheap 300HP cars.
Sales people know absolutely nothing about cars. They know about interest rates, payments, terms and conditions, sales strategies, inventory and quotas. If I applied to sell cars tomorrow I wouldn't get the job, because I have no experience SELLING things. All I would be able to do is answer questions properly and tell the consumer about the car, and what dealership wants to hire that kind of a sales person.
They want someone who's aggressive and will say/do anything to make the sale.

Out of curiousity was it Southside Mitsu you went too? Because no one besides Aaron knows what they're talking about.
Yeah it was southside and it wasn't Aaron. (I grabbed the guys card anyways)
I'm pretty positive the Evo's aren't flying off the shelves here.. I've seen maybe one around the city heheh.

i was at Scarborough Mitsu up here in Toronto, they have a Black and white EVO MR, the salesman told me it would run me $62000 out the door. I highly doubt people would jump into this for that price. Then maybe they will reduce it to 45K ish.. thats a big HOPE..lol
I know 5 people with black gsrs, 1 white. I see a silver one on near my house all time.
try westside to see what there mark up is
yeah, maybe I'll stop over on Monday. I just lost total interest when I asked "how much is this one?" and he wouldn't even tell me. heh

Why don't you just go to the states and buy one. That way you save 10-15k, and who cares if you don't get a warranty. If you have to make 10-15k in warranty work you probably don't want it anyway.
I suspect it would be hard to convince a dealer to sell to a Canadian, but now if the person had a US address they could register the car at for a while....MMNA as I understand has closed whatever loop hole they had with their dealer franchise agreements.
In Winnipeg they brought in 3 MR's. base MR at 47-48k? MR premium at 53k :/
As far as I know, they haven't jacked the price above MSRP. They are maybe 1k above MSRP for both GSR and MR models.
I've dealt with my fair share idiots when it comes to Evo's. This dealership has a used 05 evo (85k/km) for 28k, and a used Evo X(4k/m) for 38k (From the states. Springs were cut... check my other post lol)
The finance guy kept trying to convince me that 05 evo is crap and value is worthless. It's funny, since the 28k evo they are selling is the lower end RS. Which sold for what 30k MSRP in 05? He just wanted me to get the used Evo X instead.
Of course, when I told him that he's only selling the 05 RS for 2k under the MSRP 3 years ago he was surprised.
In any case, don't believe the BS they feed you. Check around, especially in these forums. You'll get a lot of good advice.

I'm on the fence as Canadian EVO's are $10K more than US ones without markup. I may end up purchasing mine from the U.S. as I've never had $500 of warranty work done on any of my cars let alone $10K.
Yeah, I was debating whether or not to buy a MR from the states.. but really.. this is the first year the cars have been out.. there could be a lot of things that take a few miles to break. (like my 2003 350Z heh)
