"So it’s nice to see our impressions encapsulated in a single empirical measurement that conveys how capable and quick a car is.
This playful exercise reaffirmed the maxim that horsepower alone is not the be all end all. The car with the most (STi with 305 hp)
was slowest, and the car with the least (Evo with 291 hp) was fastest around our track. Whether this was a one-time exercise or
a prelude of things to come remains to be seen. "
Another win for the home team.

Well, I'm sure this won't be showing up on the STi forums.
And if it does, follows is a bunch of replies along the lines of, "AT LEAST OUR PEDALS STAY IN ONE PLACE LOLZ
"
But yeah, congrats to the Evo (whichever trim it was).

It will show up on their forums. We have some Evo trolls on their boards. They (iwsti) will start railing about how 98% of their time is spent daily driving and therefore their car is still better.
aside from all the numbers... the new STI is ugly, they need to hurry up and come out with the sedan version... it was stupid to only offer the new one in a hatchback... I say again... it's UGLY!
+1 - I wasn't a huge fan of the old STIs but the new ones are terribly ugly.

nice find. comparisons like these remind me of the adage "work smarter, not harder" and really demonstrates the potential of the car. down on power, up on weight, but with the smartest set-up and gets the win.
good for mitsu.
good for mitsu.
I liked this comment towards the bottom from a reader...
"Fun read. I bought the STi for a better daily driver. If I could just live on the track all day, maybe a tough choice. 99% of my driving is in the "urban assault" mode and that is where the STi shines bright. The EVO has an inflated price, but fun on the track. I'll stick with my Subie."
Apparently, he missed the part about how the Subie just wasn't fun to drive.
