I'm in

Just traded in my 9 on a 10. Despite reading to the contrary, I found the 10 to handle every bit as good as my nine did (stock at least), and acceleration wise I couldn't tell the difference either. The two things that impressed me were the 10 defaults to over-steer instead of plowing the **** outta the front, and the car is much more stable everywhere, be it over bumps, turning in, mid-corner... I might even decide to drive it on the street every now and then.
The fact that my payment dropped damn-near $300 a month is the reason why I looked, but now is just icing on the cake.

Congrats, although I don't know where you read the handling was worse than the 9 when every mag and X owner has said numerous times how much better the car handles. The only people who said it didn't handle as good as a 9 were a couple of 9 fanboys on this forum that test drove it and didn't want to admit it was better. Either way, enjoy it man! It's a great car.

Went from a loan to a lease. I drove the 9 a whopping 1500 miles in the 10 months I owned it(only drove it on the track, and I always trailered it), so I could do the minimum mileage lease and be fine. I got a 24mo lease for $3xx/month. I figure 2 years from now, they might be coming out with the 11. The time of year I pulled the trigger will hopefully put me right behind the big rush to get the new model like this time, and right when Mistu dealers are looking to blow them out, once again, just like this time.
In a day and a half, I've already put more miles on it than I averaged in a month with the 9. Now, I don't have to worry about keeping the mileage uber-low to keep it attractive for resale.

Congratulations on the X! My thinking on this mirrors yours. I would like to get a two-year lease so that when the XI or improved X comes out then, I can get into one.

Did you get this lease from Mitsubishi or a third-party? And if you don't mind, what was the drive-off amount. If you don't want to say in public, PM me if you don't mind saying.

i have a few questions about a leasing if you dont mind. can you still mod it and everything or do you have to keep it stock? and what are the milage plans they have? and at the end of your contract they just pay it off even or will you be upside down when you trade it in for a new car? sorry for the questions im just trying to figure out how all this works without asking the dealer and him blow smoke up my a**. thanks

Most if not all leases nowadays are "closed end", meaning at the end of the lease, you can turn it in and walk away. You can also buy it for the "residual" value, but in a lot of cases you can negotiate cheaper. The car needs to be in "as delivered" condition (excusing normal wear and tear) when you turn it in at the end of the lease. Usually there's 12k and 15k(anything over the mileage usually gets charged at 15 cents/mile), and 24, 36, 48, and 60 month leases available. General consensus is anything over 36 months isn't very smart.
Leases are good for those who like to drive a new car every couple years, and don't want to put a bunch of money down to get a low(er) payment. Used to be there were better tax advantages with leases as well. Downside is you need to stay within the mileage, and you have to carry higher(100/300k) than baseline insurance. Obviously leases aren't the smart thing to do if you plan on keeping the car longer than the lease term. You'll end up paying more than if you just bought it up front.

thanks fastkevin, im thinking about getting a truck for my DD so the evo can take a break and be a weekend only car and i wont have to rush when i pull my motor and head soon to send it to buschur, i can take my time and rewire some stuff and make the engine bay look a little more tidy. I already have the 100/300/100 insurance so im good there. but it seems like a pretty good deal because all i need is a truck to drive and it would be nice to be in a new one every 2 years. again thanks for explaining it to me. and good luck with the X!
