C63 vs M3 vs ISF vs Evo MR
The GT-R was my #1 choice. After reading horror stories on nagtroc dot com about transmission failures, Nissan voiding warranties, dealers ripping off people with $2k services, lack of parts to fix sick GT-Rs and such BS that turned me off big time, I reconsidered and it seems that the M3 would be a better mule for my day to day driving, in style. So what am I doing here?
well, I like the Evo MR as well. Hard to swallow the interior quality, but I do like the AWD, AYC, steering, gearbox... and the fact it's $30k+ cheaper.
I don't know, maybe I'll go to one more Mitsu dealership to test drive an MR one more time, harder this time, to make up my mind.
Oh, and one more thing in favor of the MR, the M3 does not have Brembo brakes. I have Brembos on my track car (97 Cobra, tricked out with over $20k of upgrades) and I love them, big plus.

As for the expensive services, well if you can afford a GTR chances are that you should able to afford the services (but yea it is expensive no doubt). Plus it's a much faster car than any of the other one.
These discussions are so fun
I do indeed find it amazing that the EvoX shares the same stage as the other cars mentioned. That says something about how special a 14k econobox Lancer can be transformed into a high performance sports car by Mitsubishi. You also have to remember for similar performance, the EvoX is about 30k less expensive than the other cars, with a loaded MR going for about 40k street price. Most M3's and C63's are around 70K with features you would want, and the Lexus is close. Why not compare the CTS-V as well. Same price range as the other, we arguably similar performance if not better in some respects.
What are you really looking for? There is no wrong answer here in car choice. And it appears that cost is not a limiting factor. IMHO, the IS-F will be the most luxurious and smooth for you if that is your thing and most similar to your Lexus experience. Although it does not "perform" as well in some real world testing, it is still very close to the others in performance and most will not take advantage of the difference unless they are tracking their car. Caddy is incredible for what it is. More raw power and feel to the Lexus and very capable. Merc is a fantastic display of power oversteer and very fun, but somewhat numb in feel. M3 is all around great car, but not fastest in straight line. What is most important to you? Comfort, Speed, Handling, Looks, Interior or Exterior Styling? They all do these things differently. As for the Mitsu, it does everything well and comes close to most benchmark testing. For 30k less, it is hard to make an argument to spend the extra money.
I passed on the new M3 DCT in favor of the Evo MR. I don't care about the less refined interior or thinner sheet metal. Nor to I focus on the interior bits when I am concentrating on looking out the front windshield. Recently I owed a RENNtech C32AMG, followed by a modified 335i. I favor the Evo MR as a daily driver and track car over those two cars. It is just more connected. The Merc was very fast, but handled terrible even with a modified suspension (new C63 is better). 335i was a better car but not faster with overheating issues. At a local road course, the Merc ran a best of 1:35.2. The BMW a 1:36.1. The Evo a 1:34.8 with few mods and I haven't learned to drive the 4x platform well yet.
Stock, the Evo will hang with the C63 and the IS-F at a road course, but will loose in a straight line. The M3 will beat the stock Evo at a road course. Mod the Evo and you will be comparable. Do you want to mod your car? If you are not tracking the car, this is a null argument. Seating is the MR is better than the others, but the MR is slowest of them all from a stand still, taking off from a red light, or turning a corner.
As for the brakes, don't worry about it. If you are comming from a Lexus, you will like all the brake systems in these upgraded performance cars. The single piston M3 brakes are fine. Just change to race pads for track work. BTW, the stock Brembo's are quite different in construction than an aftermarket Brembo BBK.
I drove them all as well and ended up with the Evo as I was curious to own one and don't regret it. As long as you own your car to "drive" and not buy a car to be "seen" or impress someone because you have BMW or Merc, the Mitsu is a geat alternative, especially in this stock market.

Yeah the c63 wins on straights but anyone of those car companies can. Who ever decides to put the most powerful and biggest engine of course(for the most part) is going to win on straights and Merc did so they win.
Evos and M3s have been around for years now. They have had many years to get better from when they were first released. They have had many cars and models along the years to find out what works and what doesnt.
Lexus on the other hand really hasnt. For the first time they didn't do to bad of a job. Their build quality is excellent and engine is awesome as well. The bits in between(handling, overall performance) in a few years I bet will be much better then then now. They just need some time like the others have had to be on the same level as they are.
I think only 2 people actually reported transmission issue, and that's AFTER they used LC, which was stated in the manual to void warranty.... so why cry about it afterward?

Later, Ken
as many have said, i wonder if they will correct their performance numbers considering the launch control played a part in achieving them.
Itchipussi Lancer evolution for the bang-for-the-buck win. I still decided to get a second car (LS3 vette) as the evo isn't quite the best single do all car- a really decent attempt though.
LOL... this had me in tears. Greatest post in the thread.
Am I the only one that doesn't not like the interior. I've been in benz's, bmws, and the lexus IS-F. Maybe it is just my age, but i find the Evo's interior to be the most sporty and that is what i like. I just don't think a sports car should have an elegant lavish interior. I want to hear the engine and the exhaust note. And I don't want to be all cluttered with gadgets. The simplicity of the interior of the evo is just "clean."
I honestly like it. They got all the import aspect right imo. The steering wheel and feel, the seats are the most comfortable by far even though they are cloth. The seating postition is perfect for me.
I also got taken around the autobahn in joliet in the IS-F by a proffesional. Given the car sounds amazing. It was also quite a blast to ride. But I've tracked the evo X on that same track and can tell you that the IS-F is not that much faster. Although it would be a great car ti pick up the ladies. lol.
Although, I also hate that argument. The Evo doesn't get the ladies in your car or in your bed. But seriously, if you rely on your car to get the ladies then that is pathetic. (although, if you can get the ladies in the X, then the car can probably help you get them in bed)
I grew up admiring Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escord Cosworth, Audi Quattro, Evo 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition (see http://www.mockbites.com/articles/evo , for the hard core Evo guys: try not to wet your pants
. You'd think I am an Evo guy. I suppose somewhere along the way I was tainted by capitalism, maybe my experience owning a Lexus helped with that.
