The current JDM bypass will only work on SRS system. The problem is there are two other sensors under the seat. There is a slider position sensor under the driver side and there is another weight sensor under the Passenger side. Those sensors don't take the bypass pill. So technically 1 sensor down you need two more to bypass.
well im sure the other drivers seat u can just test for resistance an put a resistor in, i noticed on my lancer that there were 3 plugs i belive, 1 i would assume is heated seats and doesnt need bypassing of any sort, 1 would b the SRS light and the other i guess now that u mentioned it would b the slider position, but im thinking u can still test for resistance for that as well

as for the passenger side i heard that u can just disconnect the weight sensor, but dont quote me on that

but none the less we r moving in the right direction yay

Is it possible to remove the slide position sensor from the OEM driver seat and leave it loose under the seat, attached to the connector? Would that trick the system?

Also, does anyone have one of the JDM bypasses mentioned earlier in this thread? If so, maybe you could measure the resistance on that, so as not to try to measure the resistance on the airbag itself and end up firing it instead! That would make it easy for first step, getting a resistor for the airbag connector.

Oh, and where can I buy a seat mounting adapter to mount an aftermarket Recaro seat on the driver's side?

Thanks in advance.

when nobody is on the passenger seat , then that airbag is off. so that is not possible, to hook up all the bag sensor to that switch? so the ecu thinks everything is oke?

or this is a too stupid question?

It seems to me most people want the light to go away. The real question they should be asking is whether the airbags are still armed. It would be a bummer to kill your occupant over a cool set of Brides.

Goal is to trick the system with the seat-bags out, but have all other bags (including passenger dashboard AND steering wheel bag for driver) still operational. If you get the resistors right for the airbag connectors, and also deal with the driver side seat-position sensor and with the passenger side Occupant Control Module, the rest of the air bag system will still work.

At least I think it will ...

apparently even with the SRS light on it doesnt mean that ur SRS system has been disabled, it just means its missing the seat airbag, all the others still will go off regardless, and hence y u only get 1 bride seat until some1 figures out resistance, cause the passenger side has more sensors then the drivers

and unless u were stupid enough 2 disconnect ur SRS system 2 make a light disappear then that would b dangerous

What bothers me is that the standard fix (resistors) really hasn't been tested. A few years back an STi with the resistor fix was totalled (head on) at the Ring and the bags did not deploy. I tried to find the guys thread but couldn't locate it.

I unbolted and tipped up drivers seat, tried to measure resistance of slide position sensor, but got no reading, i.e. as if two wires to the sensor were unconnected to each other in any way. Checked the meter against known resistors, it seems to work OK.

So questions about this slide position sensor:

1. Does it have a unique electronic "VIN" like the passenger side OCM sensor?

2. How does it work?

3. Is it a replaceable part? Maybe buying a spare one and connecting it after removing the OEM seat will keep the SRS brain happy?

ive also been looking for a fix, i know that when lancer owners swap OEM recaros with evo owners they take it to the dealer and the dealer disables the light, what do they have that we dont? or that we cant at least figure out i know some people on here havegood friends that work for some dealers so i dunno i would check it out.

i guess im gonna go ahead and order my bride seats the only thing i was worried about was having that light and getting in a wreck and none of my airbags deploying

actually i believe the dealer doesnt disable the light, because OEM recaros have an airbag in them the dealer just resets it.... cause if u disable the light, would that solution b as effective as taking out the light bulb, and not actually solving the problem but hiding it?

i honestly have no clue, i just assume that if u checked resistance for the SRS airbag 1 and threw a resistor in there id assume it would disable the light, i havnt tried this myself or test for resistance on any other seat related thing

i dont think the seat slider for the drivers side has any electronics, because it doesnt disable the airbag system, like the passengers side

if i were ud id leave the slide 1 for now and test the 1 for the SRS system, throw a resistor into there and c if u still get a light

but im sure the way we do it is simular 2 the subaru way... myb checking on those forums ud have more luck

Do all 08+ Lancer drivers seats - DE, ES, GTS - have airbags ?

Also, do they all have seat position slide sensors?

Just trying to figure out interchangeablity of OEM Lancer drivers seats.

Thanks

all 08+ lancers have drivers and passenger seat airbags

they all have seat position slide sensors as well, i would believe, like iv seat before there r 3 wires so id assume thats wht its for 1s for SRS in the seat another is for heated seat, and the 3rd would b for the seat sensor i believe, my assumption is that DE and ES only would have 2 wires cause they dont have heated seats and also evo x GSR.. but that im not completly sure cause i have not looked at the seat wiring of a GSR

interchangeability wise for OEM lancer, seats from an evo x fits, so in theory that should work the same way for opposite as well... but who want 2 do that rofl
hence y alot of 08 lancer drivers r changing to evo x recaros
