Should I wait for break-in period before mods
i got a stash of mods sitting in my room waiting to be slapped on my evo...but it doesn't even have 400 miles yet. should i wait until at least after 800 miles (after the no-going-over-5000rpm break-in rule in the user manual), or just go for it?
When I got my Evo X I had 590 or somewhere around there.I put an exhaust,intake,boost controller and boost gauge.I still did the break in.I didn't floor it until 1000 miles.It's all up to you though.
Drive it around at different speeds for a few days until it has approx 1000 miles change the oil and throw the mods on. I think it's better safe than sorry.
What you got on the menu if you don't mind me asking?

) ARC upper IC pipe kit, ARC FMIC, ARC exhaust (this is a maybe), full seibon carbon fiber lip kit, 18" volk te37's...some are sitting in my garage right now. but maybe i'll hold off buying other stuff until it breaks in...
and then there's still three things i'm looking into - boost controller, z-chip (i'm so lost on the whole ecu tuning thing), and bov - i want a quiet one that hisses instead of going "PSSSHHHH" ... but don't really know what brand bov gives off that.
i wasn't going to change oil until the first 5000 miles...should i change at 1000? i hear it's better to run the first batch of oil all the way so that all the metal shrapnel gets flushed out on my oil change.

i agree with what others said, wait until 1000 miles, vary the speeds (should be easy if it's a daily driver) and change the oil. After that go crazy. BTW, you can hear the stock DV with any intake other than the stock airbox w/ stock filter (so even aftermarket drop ins improve the sound
)
You should keep it stock until the first servicing.
The general rule of machine is that, should something breaks, it should break very early (usually faulty product, bad installation), or late (wear & tear, creep).
Should something breaks (touchwood) early, at least you know it is not due to your mods, & the dealer can't fault you for that. If you mod your car or go hard & your car break, good luck going back to the dealer & ask for servicing.
Better safe than sorry. Beside, you can appreciate the improvement your mod do better when you have driven stock for a decent period.
How can anyone know how much improvement (if at all) if they mod the car straight after purchase. He probably can't fully understand how much effect each mod have on the car.
