X Electronic Throttle

I noticed that the X has a tendency to keep the throttle opened a little bit after I get off the gas. What is the purpose of this feature, and is there anyway to get rid of it? It doesn't give that quick responsive feeling that cable throttles have when it keeps doing this

I don't think it would make any difference that you could control. It's such a split second thing, I don't see how you would even be able to tell the difference, and actually have it mean something to you.

What exactly are you going to do with this extra split second? How is it going to make your driving any different? You can't react fast enough anyway for it to matter....

For me, it's not a split second. Sometime it lags for up to 2 seconds like when I'm coasting to a stop light or something. It's pretty annoying for me too. I have electronic throttle on my bmw also, and it seems a lot less finicky (sp?) than the evo. And it's 7 years older.

But I don't think there is any way to change it. Just something you have to get used to I guess. I'm pretty much used to it already.

I find the "fly-by-wire" system on my Evo X way better than on my old 07 WRX.

There is no California- versus 49-state versions. Only USA versions. All 50 states = same.

I have a CDN evo x and it does this. Enough that i have to remember not to give it too much gas or it will hang for a long time. It does have to do with regulations as i found out by reading about this issue on my Speed 3. Although the speed 3 wasnt nearly as bad.

i hate it that rev hang. its for environment purposes. Making sure the engine burns as much fuel as it can between shifts. So less smoke etc.
Sometimes it hangs for me over 2 sec , seems like hangs there forever.
I absolutely hate it. i took of my feet from the car in gear and the car is keep going... WTF????

Yes, it is annoying as crap. If I could change to a throttle cable setup I would.

Here is an interesting test to try.... turn on the cruise control and see if it gets worse, just set if a few minutes then cancel the set but leave the cruise on. I've noticed it is at it's worst is when I have just gotten off the interstate after using the cruise and not turning it off before exiting.

I think some of it is for fuel economy (coasts more like an autotragic with very little engine braking) and some of it is for emissions.

I also think as more tables in the rom get "discovered" we will find some tricks to make it much less pronounced.

It's my understanding also that it's an emissions thing. And it was pissing me off this weekend coming down from the mountains. I'm trying to engine break coming down a pass covered in snow and the ****ing thing still is still accelerating.
