Driving in the winter months with Aero Kit?

I am just wondering if many people here have any issues driving their EVO X in the snow with a Aero Kit on?

I know the EVO X Aero Kit lowers the ground clearance quite a bit compared to a non-Aero kit EVO X. Thus I wouldn't want my EVO X to become a snow plow in the winter months here in NE Ohio. Would it be better to get a non-Aero X and put on Coilovers or springs instead for adjust ability.

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks

Seems like this is a common issue with the EVO Aero Kit. Those push pins fall out or something happens to them.

Do you have any issues going over speed bumps or drive ways?

I have the aero kit and have gone over a few speed bumps in the 4 times I've driven it since I bought it on Dec. 12th. Its not bad at stock height.

Hmm... that's good to know. I hate on lowered vehicles or ones will lower aero kits that you can either scratch them to hell or crack them easily.

I have no idea what your second sentence is saying, but I love my aero kit. To me, it is definitely worth it.

Same here but the dealer would charge me $100 to install it again and replace the pins. I think not.

I have had the pins come out frequently, however I love the rubber guard becasue it has saved the aero kit from scratches. I glued the rubber on with gorilla glue and it is so much more resistant to falling of. I did drive my evo in the snow. And in December we had the worst snow storm in like 50 years here in oregon. I will become a plow in heavier snow, plus those summer tires are crap in the snow, which I expected. If you can keep it off the sreets during snow I highly recommended it. If they use sand in ohio, not good for the car. In Oregon they they they use sand, but it is really gravel and that is certainly not good for the paint or rims. Just my opinion.

I have no problems with my aero kit in the snow , but I’m sure it would be different story if the car was lowered.

No. Currently its either rock salt or liquid deicer (aka water & salt).

No for Ohio I would get some all-season / winter tires and just mount them on the stockers and then get a nice set of wheels for a summer tire like a Falken Azenis RT615 or something of that nature.

I would assume getting a clear bra and some rally armor mud flaps would help with the dings and chipping of the paint.

That's what has me worried if ever in the future there would be a want to lower or change the spring it would certainly be too low for winter driving as well as the horrible roads in some parts of Ohio. I would certainly think than a set of coilovers would be necessary but lifting the car up each winter would be bothersome and realigning and dealing will all of that.

I might have been up there a few times last year. I know we had a couple meets there with the 3G Eclipses. Are you talking about the one in Valley View under the I480 bridge?

I bought snow tires for the winter and will have ultra high peformance tires for the summer on different rims.

I have a clear bra and have a grand total of 1 very small (~1mm) chip on the entire car (a small area in the front no covered) that does not go down to the metal. Will take it to a detailer to get fixed as soon as the winter is over.

Also have the OEM that are pretty effective at keeping everything off the car. My new worry is the painted edges under around the wheel wells that I am going to get cleaned and covered with the clear bra material this spring.
