If I'm not mistaken, the car shuts off when anyone tries to drive it without the key fob in it. I can't remember if it's when the e-brake is released (just like turbo timer) or when ecu registers speed sensor input value change. Still won't solve the lock issue though.

I hate this so much! When it was super cold this winter I started the car, went inside, and watched my car from the window....With my previous car, I'd use the time to make my lunch, brush my teeth or something productive.

extremely inconvenient.

If you don't have a TT and you leave the car running and go somewhere. Anyone can get in the car release hand brake and drive it with out the car shutting off.

Now I only tested going around the block, so I don't know if after so many miles or if you hit a certain speed (which I don't think the car would just shut off while on the move since it is not safe.)

So I highly doubt thbere is any fail safe with the FOB not being in the car while engine is still running.
