I have the same issue quiet often with it not reacting quick enough. But I just deal with it seems normal.

The time can be set to zero according to the service manual, But it does look like the dealer has to do it.

Unless you are being chased by a a chainsaw wielding maniac the lag time isn't really an issue.

I don't even need to touch the car - the FAST key unlocks the car when I put my fingers between the handle and the door and pause for maybe 2 seconds. When you hear the 'Beep', your hand's already where it needs to be and that's when you pull the handle. I'm pretty sure it's activated when it senses an object in that small area.

OK I just went out to the car to check it out. You can change the settings on the Navi screen from "Off" to "3 seconds" to "5 seconds". Obviously with 3 and 5 seconds there's a delay, but when it's off I can lock the car, immediately grab the handle and it immediately unlocks the car and beeps at me. There literally isn't even a split second of delay with it turned off.

Really? But clearly it isn't heat based... That's lame then.

I went to the dealer, they adjusted the lock/unlock delay time to 0 seconds. Problem still there.

I confirmed its an issue specifically with openning the trunk, then closing it, and going to open a door. I believe it could be due to the FAST key moving from one sensor area to another and needing to be "reacquired" by the car's system.

I'm going to get in touch with Mitsubishi and see what they say and if they can re-produce the problem on another car.

Will update the thread just for documentation purposes when I find more.

Thanks.

There's a setting where you can change the delay from 3 seconds to 0, but I only know how to do it on the NAV display. Though, even with the 3 second delay turned on, I don't ever have this problem, and never had it on my 09 Lancer GTS either.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your issue.

Are you saying you walk up to the car, open and close the trunk, then go to the door and the FAST key does not allow you to open the locked driver door?

Or are you expecting the trunk button to have unlocked the car?

For those who are accustomed to using only 1 or 2 fingers to open the door, I have found that grabbing the middle of the door handle triggers the FAST system more reliably.
