FAST Key not so....fast?
I also set my timer to "off" and it still delays when closing the trunk. I just walk slower from the trunk to the door, take an extra look down the street or across the parking lot, then walk to the door and touch the handle. If there's a need to have the door unlocked the very second you close the trunk, reach in your pocket and hit unlock before you get to the door or before you even open the trunk.
I don't see any problem in this feature, just don't run to your door.

Exactly. It's that scenario where I have issues. If I walk at a normal pace, it will definitely occur. If I take my time walking around the car...I'm talking about unnaturally slow here...it's fine.

It's not necessarily a "problem," but what if I contact Mitsubishi, and they say "Oh, wow, we never thought of that...we need to fix that" and then release a fix for it? All I am saying is its undocumented by the manual, so I want to know what the deal is.
I removed my phone from my pocket - this specific scenario has nothing to do with interference. Although, yes, the manual does document the problem of interference and warns you about it. Wish they did the same for this issue...
I confirmed today that if you close the trunk and kind of "run" to the door the FAST system seems to be paralyzed for about 3 seconds. I don't think this will be problematic for most.
x2 I carry 2 cells, a blackberry and a cheapy, and they both do it from time to time if you have them in the same pocket. I even had the doors open and I tried to start it and the ignition wouldn't turn. lol
really? i've only encountered problems with fastkey when my remote FOB is sitting in the same pocket with my smartphone...
there seems to be some sort of interference... but when i carry the FOB and my phone in separate pockets, or in different places, its pretty flawless...

Problematic FAST key
I've had nothing but problems with my
keyless entry and ignition system. It started out with minor issues like delayed response time that gradually turned into serious problems like the key fob being not responsive at all, most of the times. There are already two TSBs for our FAST key systems (one replaces the Keyless Operation System ECU and one replaces the key fobs), but neither one fixes the issue.
I guess that's the price we have to pay for buying a new model vehicle ... when there are not enough funds for R&D for these new systems, we are the beta testers ...
I wish I had the old school remote type ...
