I would be seriously surprised if that were the case. The biggest difference is that it's just now starting to get really cold. Last night temp was about 38. I'll be watching for it again. Brand new (standard) air filter about 2 months ago.

Seriously lame.
P1235 has nothing to do with SST.

Torque/Airflow engine mapping most likely

That I'm well aware of.

The car is 100% stock. Down to the air filter.

Just noticed you're in Denver. High altitude + cold air...it might very well be that the stock ecu mapping limits are not set up with enough tolerance for your particular car. I also had P1235 at one point when going WOT on a cold <40F day. Adjusted the airflow maps by about 10% and it hasn't happened since. To me, I would suspect that your car might just flow more air stock, combined with the cold air, to set P1235.

That makes a lot of sense. I wonder if is using the same tune for all cars? How could that be possible with all of the different climates in the US?

I can confirm that mitsu uses the same tune for all cars regardless of which region they are sold in (although they updated maps over time). I bought my car in a high altitude region and had the same tune 52680015 as the other US cars initially. Later reflashes included some that claimed to address high altitude issues. To the OP, are you on the latest ROM?

That's a really good question. They replaced the ECU about a year ago, then a couple months later when the problem happened again, they checked to see if the latest flash was on the car. I'm not sure what the outcome was of that, but I know it's something they checked before they replaced the turbo, etc.

Any way I can tell what the current tune is?

Maybe once Cobb has their **** together on the MR maps, I'll get another AP and have ti custom tuned for altitude. However, it's the principle of the matter. I paid $40k for a car. It shouldn't keep throwing codes.

This problem ALWAYS occurs at full throttle.

Here's a quick overview of what's been done to the car since this problem first occurred:

1. replaced MAF
2. replaced MAF
3. replaced ECU
4. checked all electrical and vacuum connections, replaced some vacuum hoses and greased electrical connections
5. replaced aftermarket downpipe with new stock downpipe
6. replaced stock turbo assembly and stock exhaust manifold

Problem always happens at 100% throttle, different speeds. I've had it happen at 80mph, and
at 20mph. Car is 100% stock.

I've read partially through the thread and I've seen the word Lemon Law pop up. Are you considering this course of action? I also commend you for sticking by your car even though it's been one headache after another. You've shown great patience and I sincerely hope that it pays off.

If you turn the airflow / torque CEL checks off you would no longer have any headaches

Isn't that just masking the true issue though? Isn't his real issue air fuel ratio because of his altitude? Shouldn't he just go get a professional tune for his area? Better yet, TephaMods with map switching. A tune for cold, a tune for warm?

Totally agree a professional tune for his area would be the best.

I just wasn't sure he even wanted a tune or wanted to keep the stock tune since he has gone so long with the stock tune anyway.

The airflow/torque tables have nothing to do with air/fuel. I *assume* that since he is at higher altitude the car is running in different cells and tripping the limits of those tables, either higher or lower...

Disabling the CEL checks for those tables will literally take a couple minutes.

I'd log the car to make sure everything is running correctly before doing it though.

when i sold my 09 gts two its second owner, i noticed the powertrain warranty to him was reduced from 10yr/100k to 5yr/60k, so i'm guessing since you're the second owner it will still drop from the 5yr 60k powertrain to something even lower. not sure though i havnet read that part of the manual yet

This isn't true with the Evo, only the cars with the 10yr / 100k warranties that drop down.
